Summary: The influence of endometrioma on oocyte and embryo competence is inconclusive, and the benefits of surgical treatment remain uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the effect of endometrioma on oocyte and embryo quality from a morphological perspective and explore whether surgery could improve oocyte and embryo competence.

Summary: This study found that maternal plasma concentrations of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) were negatively associated with the numbers of retrieved oocytes, mature oocytes, 2 PN zygotes, and good-quality embryos, while higher paternal plasma PFOA concentrations were significantly associated with reduced numbers of 2 PN zygotes. However, none of the maternal or paternal PFAS were significantly associated with the probability of implantation, clinical pregnancy, or live birth.

Summary: This study identified different phenotypes in patients with oocyte maturation arrest (OMA), and found that clinical outcomes were associated with the presence of gene mutations and the classification of oocyte phenotypes. A triage system was proposed to optimize resource allocation and maximize patient benefit.

Summary: Traditional morphological assessment of embryos can lead to variability in IVF success rates. To improve success rates, multiple embryos are often transferred, resulting in high-risk multiple pregnancies. Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used in the embryology laboratory to enhance IVF outcomes.

Summary: High-dose gonadotrophin stimulation affects oocyte and early-stage embryo development. The study found that natural cycle IVF (NC-IVF) had higher rates of mature oocytes and fertilized zygotes compared to conventional IVF (cIVF). In addition, the morphology of the cleavage-stage embryo was also improved in NC-IVF.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of adding epidermal growth factors (EGF) and/or b-Mercaptoethanol (bME) to the buffalo in vitro embryo production process. Results showed that supplementing EGF (20 ng/mL) to the TCM-199, IVF-TALP, or SOF media improved the growth and development of buffalo embryos. EGF (50 ng/mL) stimulated embryo production when added to the IVF-TALP or SOF media, but not the IVM medium. bME was less efficient, but could enhance embryo growth when added to the IVF-TALP media at a 50 mu M concentration.

Summary: The study found that oocyte donation does not compromise CLBR and can reduce embryo wastage. Additionally, in patients with 10 retrieved oocytes, CLBR remained good at 73%. Therefore, it is possible to expand oocyte donors by decreasing the number of oocytes kept for own use from 15 to 10 after adequate communication with patients.

Summary: Based on current findings, this review provides a comprehensive overview of the impact of oxidative stress on the quality of gametes and embryos during assisted reproductive techniques (ART). It discusses the origins of reactive oxygen species (ROS), mechanisms of oxidative stress-induced damage, and the underestimated hazard of light exposure-related photo-oxidation. The review also emphasizes the role and significance of antioxidants and light protection in the development of gametes and embryos in vivo and in vitro.

Summary: Preeclampsia (PE) is a disease that occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy and is characterized by new onset hypertension and albuminuria or other end-organ damage. It is a major complication of pregnancy that can increase morbidity and mortality in pregnant women and fetuses, causing significant social burden. Recent research suggests that exposure to environmental xenobiotic compounds, particularly endocrine disruptors, may contribute to the development of PE. However, the specific mechanisms underlying this relationship remain unclear. This paper reviews the role and potential mechanism of PE induced by exogenous chemicals and provides an outlook on the environmental etiology of PE.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of UPA on abnormal uterine bleeding due to adenomyosis, showing a significantly higher rate of women with PBAC score under 75 in the UPA group compared to the placebo group after 28 days of treatment, along with a significant reduction in pain for the UPA group. At 6 months, there was no significant difference in outcomes between the two groups, indicating that UPA could be a potential option for treating this condition.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that rodents exposed to low-intensity radiofrequency (RF) exhibit vasoconstriction responses similar to those in cold conditions, suggesting that RF exposure triggers physiological events associated with responses to cold in rats. RF exposure also leads to increased plasma concentrations of noradrenaline and fatty acids, similar to the response to cold stimuli.

Summary: The study evaluated different techniques for Essure(R) microinserts removal and assessed the risk of device fracture and intra- and post-operative complications. The most frequent surgical techniques were laparoscopic salpingectomy (LS), laparoscopic cornuectomy (LC), and laparoscopic or vaginal hysterectomy (LH, VH) with en-bloc salpingectomy. Complications were more severe and frequent with hysterectomy compared to the LC and LS procedures.

Summary: This study compares the clinical pregnancy rate in cases of unexplained infertility with intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI). The results show that IVF/ICSI has higher pregnancy rates, especially in women with secondary unexplained infertility, in the first two cycles, and in women receiving a transfer of two embryos. The study recommends IVF/ICSI treatment for unexplained infertility.
