Summary: The study revealed that hypoxic tumor cell-derived exosomal miR-340-5p contributes to radioresistance in OSCC by targeting KLF10/UVRAG. The findings suggest that miR-340-5p could be a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for enhancing radiosensitivity in OSCC. Moreover, metformin was found to increase KLF10 expression and improve radiosensitivity in OSCC, offering a promising therapeutic option for treatment.

Summary: In this study, the role of exosomal miRNAs in dengue virus-induced disease progression was analyzed in an Indian cohort. After comprehensive analysis, miR-96-5p was found to be upregulated while miR-146a-5p was downregulated with the progression of disease to severe form. The expression levels of miR-96-5p and miR-146a-5p were strongly correlated with platelet levels. Additionally, miR-146a-5p was found to regulate the expression of proteins involved in immune responses.

Summary: The impaired expression of miR-652-5p was found to inhibit the growth of T-ALL cells, promote apoptosis, and prolong overall survival. Impaired miR-652-5p expression decreased glycolysis levels in T-ALL cells, affecting their metabolic function. Mechanically, miR-652-5p targeted Tigar mRNA to inhibit its expression, thereby impacting glycolysis levels. Additionally, Tigar suppressed the expression of the glycolysis rate-limiting enzyme PFKFB3.

Summary: This study analyzed the expression of E2F2 gene and protein, as well as the miRNAs candidate targets (miR-125b-5p, miR-155-3p, and miR-214-5p) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tumor and margin samples. The results showed that E2F2 gene is not the target for analyzed miRNAs in OSCC, while miR-155-3p and miR-125b-5p may play roles in the pathogenesis of OSCC. Additionally, miRNAs expression in response to tobacco smoke and HPV status showed differences.

Summary: Exosomal miRNAs, such as miR-101-3p and miR-423-5p, play important roles as tumor suppressors in mediating the progression of medulloblastoma by inhibiting proliferation, migration, and invasion of tumor cells, and promoting apoptosis. These exosomal miRNAs can be delivered to tumor cells via exosomes and directly target genes like FOXP4 and EZH2, reinforcing their tumor inhibitory effects. Overexpression of miR-101-3p and miR-423-5p has been shown to inhibit tumorigenesis in vivo in a xenograft mouse model, indicating a potential therapeutic approach for the treatment of children with medulloblastoma.

Summary: Cancer-cell-released exosomal miRNAs play a significant role in tumor microenvironment communication, with miR-320b identified as closely associated with lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis in ESCC patients. Through transfer by exosomes, miR-320b activates the AKT pathway in HLECs independently of VEGF-C, affecting tube formation, migration, and EMT progression in ESCC cells. Furthermore, METTL3 positively regulates pri-miR-320b maturation through an m6A-dependent mechanism.

Summary: This study aimed to develop potential biomarkers for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by sequencing small non-coding RNA (sncRNA) in circulating exosomes. The expression levels of hsa-miR-335-5p and hsa-miR-486-5p were found to be higher in RA patients compared to healthy controls, while the expression of the SRSF4 gene was decreased. These findings suggest that circulating exosomal miRNAs and SRSF4 could serve as valuable biomarkers for RA.

Summary: This study found a significant positive correlation between CXCR7 expression and CAF activation markers in colonic tissues and transgenic mice. RNA sequencing revealed an increase in miR-146a-5p and miR-155-5p levels in CXCR7-overexpressing CRC cells and their exosomes. Furthermore, these CRC cell-derived miRNAs could be uptaken by CAFs via exosomes and promote their activation, leading to enhanced invasive capacity of CRC cells and pro-metastatic switch. The activation of CAFs by miR-146a-5p and miR-155-5p also facilitated tumor formation and lung metastasis of CRC in vivo. Therefore, these findings provide new insights into CXCR7-mediated CRC metastasis and suggest potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for inhibiting CRC metastasis.

Summary: In this study, it was found that exosomes derived from cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) contained more miR-146b-5p compared to exosomes derived from normal fibroblasts (NFs). miR-146b-5p promoted the malignant phenotype of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) by targeting HIPK3. Therefore, inhibiting exosomal miR-146b-5p secretion may be a promising therapeutic approach for OSCC.
