Summary: Data breaches are becoming increasingly important for organizations, and there is a need to predict them. Previous studies have focused on the technical perspective and ignored the role of social media. To address this gap, STRisk is proposed as a predictive system that incorporates the social media dimension. The study includes over 3800 US organizations and uses machine learning models to predict hacking breaches, achieving a high AUC score by considering both technical and social features.

Summary: A transition towards more sustainable alternatives in socio-technical systems is crucial for addressing climate change and other environmental issues. While innovation is important, deliberate destabilization of existing systems is sometimes necessary, even though it is politically controversial. The Endowment-Practice-Institutions (EPI) Framework integrates theories from Institutional Sociology and Political Economy to analyze how actors influence institutional structures through their practices and resources. This framework provides new theoretical insights and helps analyze agency-driven mechanisms for maintaining or destabilizing socio-technical regimes.

Summary: This study examines the impact of global regimes on the development and diffusion of low-carbon innovations. The findings suggest that the coercive, normative, and mimetic institutional pressures from global regimes inhibit the development of Technological Innovation Systems (TIS), and the institutionalization of new logic in global regimes can outpace technological development, reducing the attractiveness of radical innovations.

Summary: Digital platforms provide workers with vital income and flexibility, but also lead to precariousness and exploitation, particularly in terms of unpaid work. This article explores the necessity of unpaid labor and its driving factors on diverse digital platforms. It theorizes two ideal types of socio-technical platform regimes, 'open' and 'closed', based on sociological insights. The study investigates unpaid labor in low-skill and medium/high-skill digital platforms through five case studies. It finds that digital freelancers in relatively 'open' regimes exhibit less unpaid labor due to higher autonomy, while 'closed' regimes mitigate unpaid labor in the food delivery sector by providing market shelter.

Summary: The current global freshwater crisis poses a serious threat to the availability of water as a resource for humanity. The scarcity of drinking water and the reliance of the food industry on water-intensive supply chains necessitate immediate strategies to analyze and ensure the water sustainability of countries. This study introduces a fuzzy-data envelopment analysis composite index that evaluates water sustainability through a benchmarking approach, considering both capacity and resilience, and accounting for uncertainty stemming from time series variations. The index, based on ten European Union countries' water risk hotspots, incorporates five indicators of capacity and five indicators of resilience. The findings highlight variations in capacity due to substantial water resource exploitation in Greece, Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal. In terms of capacity, Bulgaria and Estonia perform well in pessimistic and indifferent scenarios, whereas France and Bulgaria rank high in an optimistic scenario. Belgium and Portugal demonstrate superior resilience. However, when considering both capacity and resilience together, Belgium emerges as the most sustainable country, while countries like Bulgaria and Estonia experience a decline in their rankings. Without addressing issues of governance and water productivity, Bulgaria's water resources could face sustainability challenges in the context of economic development.

Summary: Studies have shown that official hotel occupancy statistics underestimate the volume of tourists arriving in a territory since tourists staying in non-regulated establishments are not registered. The data from online platforms allow a more approximate estimate, however, they do not reflect the real volume of tourists arriving at a destination either. Therefore, it is difficult to know the real dimension of the tourism industry in a tourist destination.

Summary: In order to survive in highly competitive business environments, firms in high-tech industries are increasingly relying on research and development (R&D) collaboration to tap into external resources. However, our study shows that the benefits of R&D collaboration on new product innovation decrease while the costs increase. We also find that absorptive capacity and political ties moderate this relationship, with firms with higher absorptive capacities and stronger political ties experiencing higher innovation performance.
