The one-pot synthesis of indole in water by aerobic alcohol oxidation and subsequent cyclization was achieved using linear polystyrene-stabilized Pt nanoparticles as a catalyst. The catalyst could be reused, although a slight increase in particle size was observed by TEM analysis of the recovered catalyst.
