DNA hydrogel was used as a template to fabricate both core-shell- and alloy-type bimetallic Au-Ag nanoparticles by either sequential or simultaneous reduction of the corresponding metal precursors, respectively. The proposed method is used to synthesize several nanometer-sized bimetallic colloids and is characterized by simplicity, robustness, and benign synthetic conditions.
