Mo-doped BiVO4 powder was successfully prepared by a facile liquid-solid-state reaction and was applied to a photo anode for water splitting. Pulverization of the Mo-doped BiVO4 particles by ball-milling effectively improved the photoelectrochemical performance in the powder-pasted photoelectrode system. The Mo-doped BiVO4 photoelectrode prepared by a facile screen printing method showed relatively high anodic photocurrent upon loading a cobalt cocatalyst by vacuum deposition, giving ABPE of 0.35% at 0.7 V vs. RHE under simulated sunlight irradiation.
