Summary: In this study, a deep-learning based approach was proposed to reduce motion induced artifacts in CBCT images and improve image quality. The approach utilized neural network architectures as pre- and/or post-processing steps during CBCT reconstruction. Results showed significant reductions in artifacts and improvements in image quality compared to existing state-of-the-art CBCT algorithms.

Summary: We propose a motion estimation and motion correction approach for oral and maxillofacial cone beam CT scans based solely on 2D projection images. This algorithm improves the visualization quality of motion impaired scans, eliminating the need for re-scans and reducing radiation dosage for patients.

Summary: Dedicated breast CT is an emerging 3D isotropic imaging technology that overcomes the limitations of traditional breast imaging methods. Despite the technical challenges such as scan protocol, radiation dose, breast coverage, patient comfort, and image artifact, proposed methods have been discussed to address these issues and improve the technology further.

Summary: This study aimed to classify 10 cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) devices based on their ability to detect fine endodontic structures. The results showed that these devices performed differently for different endodontic tasks, with only a few devices maintaining a high level of detection capability in the presence of metal.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of different CBCT software in reducing blooming artifacts when examining teeth with intracanal posts. The use of the e-Vol DX BAR filter eliminated blooming artifacts, while the PreXion3D Image Analysis System may result in significant differences in the measured post diameters compared to the actual values.

Summary: The number of basis images does not affect image quality in bone cortical plates, while MAR can improve image quality in areas most affected by artifacts. The implant increases standard deviation in the lingual cortical plate, and in this case, MAR activation decreases standard deviation.

Summary: This study compared the amount of artifacts induced by titanium and zirconium implants on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and evaluated the effect of different exposure settings on image quality for both materials. The results showed that zirconium implants caused more artifacts than titanium implants, and a larger field of view and voxel size could minimize the amount of artifacts.

Summary: This study evaluates the effects of the artifact removal algorithm on linear measurements of the buccal cortical plate by altering the voltage. The results indicate that using artifact removal in low voltage decreases the accuracy of linear measurement and buccal crest visibility. However, using artifact removal in high voltage does not significantly affect the accuracy of linear measurements.

Summary: A robust and quantitative method was developed to determine metal artifacts in CBCT. Changes in imaging parameters may have nonlinear effects on image quality, which are not anticipated based on physics.

Summary: This study found that different dental lab materials have an effect on CBCT metal artifacts at different resolutions, especially at lower resolutions. Blu-Mousse(R) and polyvinyl siloxane materials reduced metal artifacts more compared to other materials at all three resolutions and lower resolutions.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel clinical protocol for accurately tracking orthodontic tooth displacement in three dimensions and providing 3D models for Finite Element Analysis. The protocol was successfully applied to monitor canine retraction in a patient over seven months, with a second CBCT scan performed for validation. The study highlights the relevance and suitability of the protocol to support patient-specific FEA through numerical simulations and comparisons with clinical results.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of a metal artifact reduction (MAR) tool in cone-beam computed tomographic scans for detecting root isthmus in mandibular molars with different intraradicular posts. The results showed that the size of the field of view (FOV) did not affect the tool's performance, with disabled and low modes of MAR tool showing higher accuracy values for metal and fiberglass post groups. The study suggests that normal and high modes of the MAR tool are not recommended for this purpose.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and characteristics of skull base anomalies and the features of sphenoid sinus pneumatization. The results showed that skull base anomalies are common and may be incidentally detected during imaging procedures. Considering the variations and pneumatization patterns of the sphenoid sinus is important in imaging procedures.
