In this paper, we introduce a novel theory designing Placido disk for achieving a clear image. Simulated annealing algorithm is employed to optimize the surface parameters to save time. Using this method, we designed an optical system of Placido disk-based corneal topographer based on the initial structure of the disk. We show the applicability of the topographer by testing spherical surfaces of 7.95 mm and 8.0 mm curvature radius and real corneal. This method may increase the flexibility of the design of the corneal topographer and reduce the processing difficulty.
