Summary: Menopause is a hormone-deficiency state that causes various symptoms such as facial flushing, vaginal dryness, and depression. Hormone-replacement therapy is commonly used, but it has side effects. In this study, a complex extract of Polygonatum sibiricum and Nelumbinis semen was found to improve menopause symptoms without side effects by increasing the expression of ER beta and restoring vaginal epithelial cell thickness. It also improved blood-lipid metabolism and alleviated osteoporosis. Therefore, it could be a natural treatment option for menopause.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of ERr 731 on vasomotion responses in an ovariectomized rat model, showing that ERr 731 can effectively reduce temperature and maintain stability, with promising therapeutic potential. Additionally, ERr 731 demonstrated a high degree of selectivity for estrogen receptors in animal models and cell experiments, providing hope for replacing hormone therapy.

Summary: Polygonatum sibiricum (PS) can alleviate menopausal symptoms by increasing estrogen receptor expression and reducing serotonin receptor expression. It can also suppress obesity and improve osteoporosis. Additionally, it can reduce the risk of side effects associated with estrogen therapy, such as endometrial hyperplasia.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of cornelian cherry extract on metabolic changes induced by ovary removal, including bone loss, obesity development, adipokine imbalance, and oxidative stress. The results showed that cornelian cherry extract could improve weight gain, reduce visceral fat accumulation, restore adipokine balance, reduce oxidative stress, and prevent bone loss caused by ovary removal. This study is the first to demonstrate the bone-protective properties of cornelian cherry and its potential benefits for preventing cardiovascular diseases.

Summary: Studies have shown that treatment with L. intestinalis YT2 significantly alleviates symptoms of menopause, including increased fat mass, decreased bone density, heightened pain sensitivity, reduced depression-like behavior, and cognitive impairment. Additionally, this probiotic restores intestinal microbial balance by increasing the Firmicutes/Bacteroides ratio and promoting gut barrier integrity. These findings suggest that L. intestinalis YT2 may be a therapeutic probiotic for menopausal women.

Summary: Studies have shown that probiotic Lactobacillus gasseri BNR17 isolated from human breast milk can reduce body weight and adipose tissue volume. In an OVX rat model, administration of L. gasseri BNR17 led to lower pain sensitivity, improved vaginal health, and increased bone mineral density, indicating its potential as a functional probiotic for managing menopausal symptoms in older women.
