Summary: This study compared the efficacy and safety of endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection and balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration (BRTO) to prevent rebleeding in patients with cirrhosis and gastric varices. The results showed that BRTO was more effective in preventing rebleeding from gastric varices, with similar impacts on complications and mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of using large-volume ligators for endoscopic band ligation in patients with cirrhosis and non-bleeding gastric varices. The results showed that large-volume ligators have similar eradication rates to tissue glue, but are safer.

Summary: This study retrospectively compared the efficacy of EIS and BRTO for secondary prevention of GV bleeding and their effects on liver function. It found that EIS therapy is effective in preventing GV rebleeding and has no significant impact on liver function after treatment.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of preoperative intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) injection on the incidence of postoperative vitreous hemorrhage (VH) in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). The results showed that the VH incidence was significantly lower in the IVA group compared to the control group, and it also improved visual acuity. Therefore, prophylactic use of aflibercept can reduce the risk of postoperative hemorrhage in patients with PDR.

Summary: The study compared the performance of disposable and reusable gastroscopes in gastroscopy and found that while both had similar success rates in capturing images of anatomic sites, the disposable gastroscopes had lower imaging quality scores and longer operating times.

Summary: This study investigated the safety and therapeutic effect of EUS-guided coil placement and cyanoacrylate glue injection for gastric varices with obvious spontaneous portosystemic shunts. The results showed that all patients underwent successful coil placement and cyanoacrylate glue injection, with no rebleeding or ectopic embolism occurring. The combination of cyanoacrylate glue and coil placement is a safe and effective treatment method for patients with gastric variceal bleeding and obvious spontaneous portosystemic shunts.

Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of clip-assisted endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection (clip-ECI) to conventional endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection (con-ECI) for the treatment of gastric varices (GVs) with a gastrorenal shunt. The results showed that clip-ECI was more effective than con-ECI, requiring fewer treatment sessions and achieving a lower 6-month rebleeding rate.

Summary: In a multicenter randomized trial conducted in the Netherlands, laparoscopic gastrectomy did not show a significant advantage over open gastrectomy in terms of hospital stay, postoperative complications, and oncological outcomes for Western patients with predominantly advanced gastric cancer undergoing multimodality treatment. Both procedures demonstrated similar results in postoperative complications and oncological efficacy.

Summary: The study found that treatment with carvedilol in cirrhotic patients following esophageal variceal bleeding improves long-term survival, reduces liver-related deaths, and decreases hospital admissions due to decompensated liver disease compared to endoscopic band ligation. Further research is needed to validate these findings.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the application of bipolar haemostatic forceps in the initial endoscopic treatment of nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The study uses a randomized controlled trial comparing standard treatment and bipolar haemostatic forceps treatment. The study design is reasonable and could provide important insights into the suitability of bipolar haemostatic forceps as a first-line therapy in the endoscopic treatment of this condition.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of first-line over-the-scope-clips (OTSC) therapy with standard endoscopic treatment in patients with acute non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGIB). The results showed that OTSC therapy had a higher clinical success rate and a lower rate of persistent bleeding compared to standard treatment.
