Summary: Polymers containing organic cations are promising materials for high temperature polymer electrolyte membranes due to their high PA retention and wider operation temperature range. However, the stability of these organic cations needs further investigation. By designing and preparing model cations, assessing their stability, and using a blend membrane with PBI and PA, significant progress has been made in developing durable high-performance HT-PEMs for green energy conversion.

Summary: This study presents a novel hydrogel with pH responsive antibacterial activity. The hydrogel contains a pH responsive and reversible catechol-boronate linkage, which exhibits antimicrobial property under acidic conditions and becomes non-cytotoxic under basic conditions. The hydrogel can recover its antibacterial property when exposed to acidic pH. The strategy using catechol-Cl and phenylboronic acid provides a new approach for designing hydrogels with pH responsive antibacterial activity and reduced cytotoxicity.

Summary: This study presents novel ionic liquid/PP4 conjugates with potent antibacterial and collagenesis-inducing effects. These conjugates exhibit activity against multidrug-resistant bacterial strains and both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as antimicrobial activity in simulated wound fluid. Additionally, they demonstrate comparable or stronger collagen formation effects compared to Matrixyl. These findings support the development of IL-KTTKS conjugates as promising topical treatments for complicated skin and soft tissue infections.

Summary: A strategy was developed to prepare antibacterial surfaces by electropolymerization of a pyrrole-functionalized imidazolium ionic liquid bearing a halometallate anion. The antibacterial properties of the monomer [PyC(8)MIm]Br-ZnCl2 were evaluated and the films obtained by incorporation of [PyC(8)MIm]Br-ZnCl2 showed excellent antibacterial properties. The antibacterial activities of the different PPy films were determined both by the halo inhibition method and by the colony forming units (CFUs) counting method over time.
