Summary: This study analyzed 2 million Weibo posts and reposts related to the early stage of COVID-19 in China, and found that emotional messages and general messages exhibited a multilayer diffusion pattern. The emotional network had higher transmission efficiency than the information network, and officially verified accounts were more likely to be super-spreaders of emotional messages. Positive emotions dominated online discussions, while being isolated from other six emotions, and the government played a crucial role in spreading positive emotions.

Summary: The proliferation of misinformation has led to efforts to debunk it, but little is known about how emotions affect the effectiveness of debunking. This study examined 441 videos on Douyin and their 8315 comments to explore how punishment-focused frames in debunking videos enhance their effectiveness. The results indicate that audiences' anger, characterized as righteous anger, can be aroused by content that advocates for punishing creators and spreaders of misinformation, and this anger can be intensified by message involvement and argument quality.

Summary: The study reveals distinct transcriptomic profiles in cardiac tissues of SARS-CoV-2 and pH1N1 influenza infection, with upregulation of genes associated with DNA damage and repair, heat shock, and macrophage infiltration in COVID-19 patients' cardiac tissues. In comparison, pH1N1 infection showed upregulation of interferon and complement pathways. This highlights the need for further understanding of the effects on extra-pulmonary organs, including the cardiovascular system, in COVID-19 patients.

Summary: An estimated 6 billion people lack access to safe, timely, and affordable cardiac surgical care when needed. Cardiovascular diseases receive less funding compared to HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, despite causing more deaths. This resource allocation imbalance poses an ethical dilemma for global health. However, strengthening cardiac surgical care capacity can be achieved without competing for resources with other areas of global health.

Summary: From the 1960s to the present, coronary care units (CCUs) have undergone advancements in technology and treatment protocols, resulting in improved care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease. The establishment of systems-of-care and referral networks has shifted the demographics and management of critically ill cardiovascular patients. Patients now have access to timely interventions and support devices, such as defibrillation, pacers, thrombolysis, and temporary mechanical circulatory support.
