Summary: This scoping review investigated the extent and acceptance of telemedicine in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study found that telemedicine improved healthcare access and reduced infection risk in LMICs. However, challenges such as technology, regulation, and economics need to be addressed for wider telemedicine implementation.

Summary: During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare systems, especially in LMICs, were severely strained and even crippled. As a result, alternative mechanisms for scaling-up healthcare services, such as telemedicine, have become crucial. Telemedicine not only serves as a valuable complement to standard modes of pediatric healthcare delivery during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic but also helps reduce inequities in accessing and delivering pediatric healthcare in LMICs. To effectively integrate pediatric telemedicine into LMICs' healthcare systems, a well-coordinated approach in health policy, infrastructure development, and community participation is necessary.

Summary: This study aims to explore the utilization of telehealth in managing the Covid-19 pandemic in low- and middle-income countries. The findings indicate that although the use of telehealth interventions was limited in these countries, it was an effective solution in combating the outbreak of Covid-19.

Summary: The importance of neurorehabilitation services for people with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries is recognized, but accessibility remains a significant challenge due to lack of trained specialists and availability predominantly in urban areas owned by private healthcare organizations. Systematic development of tele-neurorehabilitation interventions is needed, utilizing technological innovations to meet the growing burden of neurological disability in these countries.

Summary: This study assessed the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic in seven low and middle-income countries (LMICs). The study found major deficiencies in PPE availability at health facilities, and even when available, proper use of the equipment was not guaranteed. This led to an increased risk of preventable COVID-19 transmission in healthcare facilities, impacting the morbidity and mortality of healthcare workers and the continuity of service delivery.

Summary: The study found that approximately 49% of parents in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (L & MICs) accept vaccinating their children against COVID-19. The main determinant of their decision is the belief that the vaccine is essential in fighting the pandemic, while concerns regarding efficacy, safety, and side effects contribute to vaccine hesitancy.

Summary: This study aims to understand the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines and the reasoning for vaccine hesitancy among facility-based health care workers (HCWs) in LMICs. The study found that participating public health facilities almost universally offered the vaccine and a high proportion of HCWs had been vaccinated. The opportunity for vaccination is almost universal and efforts should be made to increase vaccine uptake through health facilities and HCWs.

Summary: This rapid systematic review analyzes the barriers to COVID-19 health products in low- and middle-income countries. The results show that these barriers are mainly caused by market forces, unavailability and inaccessibility of the products, unaffordability, incongruent donors' agenda and funding, and unreliable health and supply systems. These barriers exist at different levels including international, regional, health sectoral, and national cross-sectoral.

Summary: This study aims to examine the disparities between COVID-19 studies conducted in high-income countries (HICs) and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The results show that HICs have a faster response speed, higher registration and publication compliance, and produce more innovative pharmaceutical and vaccine products to combat COVID-19 compared to LMICs.

Summary: Phone survey data from Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, and Uganda shows that 256 million individuals-77% of the population-live in households that have lost income during the pandemic. Attempts to cope with this loss are exacerbated by food insecurity and an inability to access medicine and staple foods. Student-teacher contact has dropped significantly among households with school-aged children.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the association between the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the general population. The study found that the COVID-19 pandemic was associated with a significant reduction in HRQoL for more than one-third of respondents, especially among younger people and females. Overall, there was an 8% reduction in perceived HRQoL, and the health burden due to morbidity was considerably higher than that due to COVID-19-related mortality.
