Adipose tissue is considered one of the endocrine organs in the body because of its ability to synthesize and release a large number of hormones, cytokines, and growth and vasoactive factors that influence a variety of physiological and pathophysiological processes, such as vascular tone, inflammation, vascular smooth muscle cell migration, endothelial function, and vascular redox state. Moreover, genetic factors substantially contribute to the risk of obesity. Research into the biochemical effects of molecules secreted by visceral adipocytes as well as their molecular genetic characteristics is actively conducted around the world mostly in relation to pathologies of the cardiovascular system, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes mellitus. Adipokines could be developed into biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic targets in different diseases. This review describes the relevance of secretory activity molecules of visceral adipocytes in cardiovascular disease associated abdominal obesity.

Fats of Pigs of Different Breeds and Chemical Composition in the Diet of Animals

Vitaly A. Bekenev, Sergey N. Mager, Anatoly A. Arishin, Olga G. Merzlyakova, Elena V. Kashtanova, Yana V. Polonskaya, Victor G. Chegodaev, Valentina I. Frolova, Izolda V. Bolshakova, Yulia V. Frolova, Yuri V. Ites

Summary: The study investigates the effects of different breeds of pig fat and vegetable oil on the growth, productivity, and lipid metabolism characteristics of quails. Quails fed with K-breed fat showed the most rapid growth, and the level of total cholesterol significantly decreased in all groups. Quails fed with P-breed fat had a higher risk of atherogenic index.

Adipokine-Cytokine Profile in Patients with Unstable Atherosclerotic Plaques and Abdominal Obesity

Evgeniia V. Garbuzova (Striukova), Victoriya S. Shramko, Elena V. Kashtanova, Yana V. Polonskaya, Ekaterina M. Stakhneva, Alexey V. Kurguzov, Ivan S. Murashov, Alexander M. Chernyavsky, Yuliya I. Ragino

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the levels of adipokines and their associations with unstable atherosclerotic plaques in patients with coronary atherosclerosis and abdominal obesity (AO). The findings showed that patients with AO and unstable plaques had higher levels of GLP-1 and lower levels of lipocalin-2. Lipocalin-2 was inversely associated with unstable plaques. The conclusion is that GLP-1 is directly associated with AO, while lipocalin-2 is inversely associated with unstable plaques in patients with AO.

A. V. Polonskaya, E. V. Kashtanova, E. M. Stakhneva, V. S. Shramko, E. V. Sadovski, S. R. Ledovskikh, L. V. Shcherbakova, E. V. Garbuzova, A. D. Khudyakova, Yu. Ragino, Ragino Yu.I

Summary: The study examined the levels of metabolic hormones in young people with arterial hypertension and abdominal obesity. It found that individuals with arterial hypertension had higher levels of amylin, C-peptide, and glucose, as well as lower levels of peptide YY. Other studied parameters did not show significant differences between the experimental and control groups. Abdominal obesity was associated with the levels of C-peptide, glucagon-like peptide-1, glucagon, and insulin in the experimental group, and with the levels of C-peptide, insulin, and glucose in the control group. The odds of arterial hypertension in individuals under 45 years old were associated with a decrease in the level of peptide YY, an increase in the level of amylin, and an increase in waist circumference.

Sergey Semaev, Elena Shakhtshneider, Liliya Shcherbakova, Pavel Orlov, Dinara Ivanoshchuk, Sofia Malyutina, Valery Gafarov, Mikhail Voevoda, Yuliya Ragino

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the potential associations between several genetic factors and the risk of myocardial infarction (MI). The results showed that certain genotypes of rs1333049 and rs429358 and rs7412 were highly associated with MI, suggesting their inclusion in a genetic risk score.

Associations of Adipocytokines with The Development of Cardiovascular Events in Young People

Alena D. Khudiakova, Yana V. Polonskaya, Victoria S. Shramko, Lilia V. Shcherbakova, Evgeniia V. Garbuzova, Elena V. Kashtanova, Yulia I. Ragino

Summary: The research aimed to study the associations between adipocytokines and cardiovascular events risk and determine the threshold values of adipocytes for the prognosis of cardiovascular events in young individuals. The study found that measuring levels of amylin, PP, and TNFa in blood serum can be used to assess the risk of cardiovascular events in young people.
