Summary: A hybrid vector quantization compression method is proposed in this study to retain more image information by applying four-level quantization to the luminance channel, while compressing the chrominance channel using conventional vector quantization. The experimental results show that the proposed method significantly improves the quality of the compressed images and reduces storage space requirements.

Summary: In this paper, an image inpainting algorithm based on the modified Gray-Scott (GS) model is proposed, with a fidelity term added to control the edge and stability of pixel value evolution during the process. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed model are verified through experiments, showing its efficacy in restoring damaged images with Gaussian noise and locally missing pixels.

Summary: This paper presents an enhanced sine cosine algorithm (ESCA) for color image segmentation. By transforming the input image to CIE L*a*b* color reduced space, ESCA efficiently determines the optimal threshold values for segmentation. Experimental results show that ESCA outperforms other methods like particle swarm optimization (PSO) and standard SCA in terms of peak signal-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM), while requiring less time for finding optimal threshold values.

Summary: With the advancements in information and communication technologies, ensuring information security has become increasingly challenging. Data security is crucial due to the need for exchanging private information and the open nature of networks. Steganography, the practice of hiding data within a cover object to prevent suspicion, is an effective method for achieving secrecy. Combining two steganography methods, known as multilevel steganography, improves the level of security by hiding sensitive data in two cover objects.

Summary: In this paper, a new large-scale publicly available color constancy dataset called Shadows & Lumination dataset is introduced. The dataset consists of 2500 minimally processed images from various indoor, outdoor, and night-time scenes. Unlike other datasets, it includes real-world images with two illuminants for multi-illuminant estimation, along with binary segmentation masks dividing the image into regions illuminated by each illuminant. The paper also benchmarks illumination estimation methods and image segmentation methods using the dataset.

Summary: PSNR and SSIM are widely used measuring tools in image quality assessment, with PSNR used earlier and SSIM designed based on human visual system factors. Research findings show that LSB performs best based on PSNR, while PVD performs best based on SSIM. The study concludes that SSIM is a better measure of imperceptibility in all aspects and should be preferred in future steganographic research.

Summary: This paper presents an advanced grayscale-invariant authentication method for color images that modifies the most significant bits of the red and blue channels to generate authentication codes with minimal distortion. By adjusting the green channel and utilizing pixel substitution and constraint-reduced strategies, this method effectively reduces image distortion and improves detection results.

Summary: A novel double color image encryption algorithm combining 2D compressive sensing with an embedding technique is proposed in this paper, achieving compression and encryption simultaneously and obtaining visually meaningful cipher images. Confusion of the compressed cipher images is done by index sequences generated from a 6D hyperchaotic system, while the relationship of the algorithm with plain images is enhanced by embedding feature parameters into the carrier image.
