Summary: This study aims to identify and examine the perception of benefit sharing in the sharing of international rivers in China, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Through the analysis of views from experts of hydrodiplomacy, international water law, benefit sharing and ecological benefits compensation, three distinct streams of views were identified: supporters, idealists and pragmatists, with strong geographical association to the three Asian regions. This study provides a better understanding of benefit sharing in international rivers and offers new perspectives to hydrodiplomacy in Asian regions.

Summary: The study finds that overall value-added export intensity is associated with a higher skill premium, but there are contrasting effects of direct exporting and indirect exporting on the skill premium. The neglect of the indirect channel in existing studies may lead to an overestimation of the positive relationship between exports and inequality.

Summary: The research output on FMF from Arab countries between 2004 and 2019 was relatively low with a focus on the genetic aspect of the disease. There were moderate positive correlations between the number of publications and average population size as well as average number of physicians. Arab countries should focus on providing a clinical aspect to their studies and working on regional and international collaborations to improve research output.

Summary: This study investigates the causal linkage between financial risk (FR) and economic risk (ER) in China using Toda Yamamoto causality and wavelet coherence tests. The findings show a feedback causality between FR and ER in China at different frequencies and periods, providing crucial implications for policy decision-making and actions by researchers and macro-economic policymakers. The study is original in exploring this relationship in China using newly developed econometrics techniques and is likely to open a debate on the implications for policymakers in China.

Summary: The study aims to develop an adaptable method for assessing the vulnerability of organisations in regional food markets by combining various indicators into a single vulnerability score. The research focuses on the alcohol market and examines how the vulnerability of a large producer of alcoholic beverages has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The proposed methodology can be adapted for any agri-food enterprise by specifying parameters and is implemented in a web application for unified access to all agricultural enterprises.

Summary: Vector autoregressions (VARs) and their variants are standard models in economic and financial research, but estimating high-dimensional models presents challenges. This paper explores machine learning regularization methods as an alternative to traditional methods, finding that they perform better in forecasting and impulse response analysis. Regularization structures allowing for high-dimensional models outperform standard Bayesian methods in nowcasting and forecasting.

Summary: Climate change and limited resources have led to paradigm shifts in economic, social, and environmental policies and strategies. Sustainable development and the circular economy have become global priorities. This research aims to explore the path toward sustainable development in European countries by examining the relationship between green environment, economic growth, and circular economy issues. The study analyzes specific variables such as energy consumption, GDP, emissions, and waste generation for 31 European countries from 2009 to 2020. The results suggest that certain factors contribute to reducing waste generation, while others lead to an increase. This study provides insights for economic policy measures to facilitate the green transition process and promote the circular economy.

Summary: In this paper, a two-step approach is proposed for conducting statistical inference in financial networks of volatility, focusing on a network of European sovereign debt markets. The static results reveal that southern European bonds, which experienced the most volatility during the European debt crisis, were not necessarily net transmitters within the network, contrary to intuition. Furthermore, it is found that targeting low inflation and low financial stress are the most effective monetary and macroprudential policy stances for achieving low volatility transmission. The dynamics of the model suggest that the central bank should adjust its targeted variable based on the time period.

Summary: This study examines the microcredit market in the USA, specifically in Florida, due to the large Hispanic population, which allows for generalization to Latin American countries. The objective is to analyze the profile of microcredit holders and their companies from socioeconomic and financial perspectives. The study utilizes multinomial logit regression to assess the relationship between borrower profiles and loan repayment punctuality or default. The significant variables are the borrower's age, positively affecting repayment, and the loan term, negatively affecting it.

Summary: Crowdfunded microloans are a financing tool that can empower women in both developing and developed countries. This study analyzes the impact of gender on microloans using a large public database from Kiva and multinomial logit regression analysis. The results show that women are the best borrowers in terms of loan amount, repayment method, and recruitment period. These findings are important for promoting financial inclusion and achieving sustainable development goals.

Summary: This research uses the Random Forests methodology to explore the relationship between the betas and 13 financial and non-financial variables for the stocks listed in the S&P 500 index from 2015 to 2019. The findings indicate that ESG Scores are the main variable influencing the formation, determination, and sign of betas according to the Relative Importance criterion. Additionally, there is a quasi-direct correspondence between betas and industrial sectors, with some heterogeneity observed across the analyzed betas. The utilization of the Random Forests methodology ensures the acquisition of relevant results by inhibiting plausible correlations between the variables considered.

Summary: This paper develops a network econometric model to examine the impact of inflation on systemic risk. The study finds a robust inverse relationship that is reversed when controlling monetary policy, indicating that the former effect is caused by monetary policy responses to inflation. It investigates whether this effect stems from overindebtness as in a Minsky moment, but no evidence supports this claim, suggesting that other mechanisms besides excess credit underlie this relationship. The findings presented in this paper are particularly crucial for understanding how monetary policy reacts to inflationary cycles.
