Summary: Two studies comparing the Day Reconstruction Method (DRM) and Experience Sampling Method (ESM) found significant differences in assessing the same moments. While DRM showed high agreement with ESM on total time spent and average affect, there were discrepancies in between-person time use and experienced affect. Preliminary evidence suggests that DRM may be more influenced by expectations of pleasantness compared to ESM.

Summary: Inner experiences are widely accepted as directly observable, but studies have shown significant discrepancies in estimated frequencies between questionnaire-based methods and descriptive experience sampling. This suggests a need for caution in interpreting questionnaire-based results and highlights the importance of further high-fidelity studies on inner experience.

Summary: Memories of past events can be recalled long after the event, indicating stability. But new experiences are also integrated into existing memories, indicating plasticity. Our study finds that spatial representation is a dynamic process, related to ongoing experiences and memory update rather than passive forgetting.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of cognitive-motor exergame training on cognitive functions and mood in healthy older adults. The results showed significant positive effects of the training on processing speed, inhibition ability, and mood. Although further research is needed, cognitive-motor exergaming may be a fun and effective approach to promote active aging.

Summary: Studies have found that people in rural Kenya, particularly women who are the main water carriers, are less happy, energetic, sociable, and in more pain while at work, whether it be paid or unpaid casual labor, formal sector employment, or resource collection. Subjects also perceive themselves as less safe while working or traveling away from home. There is a statistically significant, though small, relationship between individual-level average momentary well-being and the log of household wages earned, which is stronger for wages earned by the subject herself.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the feasibility and reliability of previously unvalidated remote cognitive function tests in Japan using common information and communication technology devices, software, and video teleconference systems compared with face-to-face assessment. The results indicate that remote video conference-based neuropsychological tests, even using familiar devices and software, may be able to assess a wide range of cognitive functions in the Japanese older population.

Summary: The study introduces a two-phase ESM design to enhance response quality by balancing probing frequency and self-report timeliness, constructing a predictive model for identifying opportune probing moments, and eliminating inopportune probes. It successfully collects 94% valid self-responses and increases emotion classification accuracy by 24%.

Summary: In the mining industry, there is currently no standardized framework for assessing the reliability of average grade estimates in selective mining units. This article introduces two measures - sampling fairness and geochemical consensus - to address this issue. Sampling fairness takes into account factors such as sampling density and bias in blasthole distribution, while geochemical consensus examines the agreement between assay samples within a grade-block. The efficacy of the consensus measure is demonstrated through validation experiments, and an extension to overcome limitations is proposed.

Summary: This study examines evaluations of daily activities and their relationship to perceived meaning in life. The results indicate that activities in culture/music, communication, intimacy, and sports are seen as both meaningful and pleasant. The study also found that individuals with high trait meaningfulness perceive their daily activities as more meaningful if they also enjoy them.

Summary: As the importance of teachers' emotions for both teachers and students is increasingly recognized, researchers use ecologically valid methodologies to document teachers' affective experiences. In this study, the experience sampling method is used to explore the momentary emotions of 238 teachers in the Northeast region of the United States. The findings provide insights into the types and intensity of emotions experienced by teachers, as well as variances in their affective experiences. Factors such as professional role, professional activity, and affective appraisals are also considered in relation to teachers' momentary affective experiences.

Summary: This study discussed the impact of two different sampling methodologies on the estimation of COVID-19 point prevalence, finding significant differences in age and nationality between the two groups. The open invitation group reported more frequent COVID-19 symptoms and overestimated the symptomatic prevalence rate compared to the random sample, while also overestimating the overall active COVID-19 cases.

Summary: Self-collection of capillary blood with micro-sampling devices provides an attractive alternative to routine phlebotomy, but concentrations of certain analytes may differ significantly from those in venous samples. Factors such as user proficiency, temperature control, and time lags between specimen collection and processing need to be considered for their effect on sample quality and reproducibility.

Summary: Satisfying daily life functioning is crucial in mental healthcare. Standard assessments offer limited insight into contextual variability and resilience, leading to interventions based on incomplete information. The experience-sampling method provides a structured diary to understand mental states and adaptational processes in relation to contextual challenges. However, its adoption in clinical care is limited, highlighting the need for a practical guide.

Summary: The Experience Sampling Method (ESM) is a valuable tool in general psychiatry, with potential applications in forensic psychiatry as well. This study showed that in forensic psychiatry, ESM can provide insights into the relationships between symptoms and mood in different contexts. Activity-related stress was found to be closely related to negative affect, lower positive affect, and more psychotic symptoms.
