Summary: This paper discusses management strategies for treatment-emergent sexual dysfunction (TESD) from a clinical perspective, including prevention, possible pharmacological interventions, and recommendations. Suggestions include prescribing aripiprazole or another dopaminergic agonist as a first-line option, or switching to it whenever possible. Adjunctive treatment with aripiprazole may also be beneficial for reducing TESD when first-line options are not feasible.

Summary: Low-intensity shockwave therapy (LiSWT) is gaining popularity for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Current studies show that LiSWT has low risk and positive improvements in erectile function. However, there is still debate over its clinical utility and optimal treatment protocol.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism underlying social stress-induced erectile dysfunction (ED) and evaluated the effects of ketamine on ED. Male mice were exposed to retired male mice for 4 weeks, and in the third week, they were injected with either saline or ketamine. Erectile function was assessed, and the results showed lower response in mice exposed to social stress. Contractility and relaxation of the corpus cavernosum were also affected in these mice. The findings suggest the limited efficacy of ketamine as a therapeutic intervention for social stress-related ED.

Summary: Sexual dysfunctions have a significant impact on general well-being, with factors such as physical and mental illnesses, alcohol, and tobacco use contributing to their occurrence. Studies show a high prevalence of sexual dysfunctions in patients undergoing methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) and heroin-assisted treatment (HAT), with 70.2% and 57.4% respectively.

Summary: This article reviews the types and mechanisms of sexual dysfunction after cancer therapy in males, and discusses treatment options. A penile rehabilitation protocol involving phosphodiesterase inhibitors, vacuum erection device, intra corporal injections, or a combination is likely to provide some degree of clinically significant benefit for erectile dysfunction caused by cancer treatments. Treatment of hypogonadism post cancer treatment depends on the type of cancer and patient comorbidities. Anejaculation after cancer treatments is typically difficult to treat successfully or reliably due to sympathetic nerve injury. Semen cryopreservation prior to cancer treatments is highly recommended. Identification of post cancer treatment sexual dysfunction and referral to a specialist if necessary is crucial for management. There are several management options available that can greatly enhance quality of life in this often overlooked aspect of post cancer treatment care.

Summary: Sexual disorders are common in cancer patients and often overlooked. Opioid drugs play a major role in causing sexual dysfunction, although the exact mechanisms are still being studied. Treatment options are limited and should be personalized based on the underlying pathology.

Summary: This review explores possible therapeutic options for managing sexual dysfunction in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). A thorough search of the PubMed Medline database was conducted and 9 relevant records were identified. Pharmacological approaches investigated the effectiveness of sildenafil, tadalafil and onabotulinumtoxinA, while non-pharmacological interventions examined aquatic exercises, pelvic floor exercises, and the use of assistive devices, among others.

Summary: Red wine is rich in nutrients and has been the focus of numerous scientific studies. It has been reported that moderate consumption of red wine, with its phenolic and antioxidant properties, can have positive effects on various diseases. Additionally, the ethanol content in red wine has shown various biological properties. However, little is known about the correlation between red wine consumption and male sexual function. This review aimed to evaluate the effects of moderate red wine consumption on erectile function and found potential benefits in patients with erectile dysfunction as well as positive influences on reproductive function through vasorelaxant and antioxidant mechanisms.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of sexual dysfunction, with a high prevalence rate of up to 89% in CVD patients. Pharmacotherapy is ineffective in reducing sexual problems, and sexual rehabilitation has been shown to have a broad therapeutic potential. This study indicates that sexual rehabilitation is an effective method for treating sexual dysfunction in CVD patients.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease is a common cause of sexual dysfunction, affecting up to 89% of patients. Ordinary treatments are not effective in relieving sexual problems, therefore sexual rehabilitation, including exercise therapy, counseling, and partner rehabilitation, is recommended. This study shows that sexual rehabilitation is effective for CVD patients with sexual dysfunction.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of sexual dysfunctions and help-seeking behavior in patients with opioid use disorder and those seeking psychotherapeutic help. It found no significant difference in the occurrence of sexual dysfunctions between the two groups, but opioid use disorder patients scored higher in nicotine use and depressive state. The study also identified opioid use disorder, higher age, and being female as predictors of sexual dysfunctions.
