Summary: The use of ultraviolet absorber (UVA) and hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) additives in epoxy resin can enhance the performance stability of photovoltaic modules under UV radiation exposure. Increasing the content of both UVA and HALS improves the performance stability of the modules, reducing short-circuit current loss and yellowing due to UV radiation.

Summary: MgH2-based nanocomposites were synthesized using reactive ball milling and various catalytic additives. The additives improved the hydrogen absorption-desorption kinetics and stability of the composites. Nano-Ti showed the most stable hydrogen absorption-desorption characteristics compared to TiO2 and Ti4Fe2Ox additives.

Summary: The deformation behavior of Ti/Al/Ti composite fabricated by the hot-pressing process was investigated by simulation and experimental analyses. The elastic properties of laminated composites were predicted using different representative volume elements (RVEs). The SEM images showed well-bonded straight interfaces, and XRD and EDS analyses revealed the growth of TiAl3 intermetallic compound at the Ti/Al interfaces. The simulation results indicated stress concentration and strain localization at the interfaces during hot compression, and the elastic behavior of simulated RVEs agreed relatively well with experimental values.

Summary: In this study, the effect of the degree of hard-phase fracture on the mechanical properties of accumulative-roll-bonded metal composite plates was investigated through experimental tests and finite element simulations. The results showed that the fracture of the intermediate Ti layer significantly degraded the mechanical properties, but the more distributed the Ti layer was within the composite plate during accumulative roll bonding, the better were the mechanical properties. Tensile fracture of the composite plate only occurred in the Al phase, and the more compact the Ti distribution, the more severe the tearing and delamination of the Al phase. Through finite element simulations, it was concluded that the shorter the distance between the Ti fragments along the loading direction, the higher the stress and the strain rate, which resulted in premature fracture and degradation of the mechanical properties.

Summary: The laminated Ti/Ti-50Nb composite, fabricated using spark plasma sintering, demonstrates a favorable combination of strength and ductility. The layered structure helps alleviate strain localization and maintains the total elongation of the composite equivalent to that of pure Ti. The tensile strength and stress-strain curves of the composite can be analyzed using the rule of mixture. Furthermore, microvoids initiate and grow at the interface, leading to the separation of the laminated structure into smaller units.

Summary: In this study, a Ti/β-Ti alloy laminate composite was prepared, showing excellent performance in terms of both high strength and good ductility after partial recrystallization annealing. The presence of the α+β dual phase layer played a crucial role in weakening the deformation incompatibility between the Ti layer and the β-Ti alloy layer, as well as preventing crack propagation during tensile deformation.

Summary: TiB whisker reinforced Ti composite coatings with different TiB content were synthesized by TIG cladding. The wear rate and friction coefficient of the coatings decreased with the increase of applied load, regardless of TiB content. The formation of tribo-oxidation layer (TOL) was responsible for the decrease in wear rate and COF. The yield of TOL was influenced by the content of pro-eutectic TiBw. The wear debris entrapment by pro-eutectic TiBw contributed to the formation of TOL. B20 and B30 exhibited superior wear performance due to the load-bearing effect of pro-eutectic TiBw and the protective barrier of TOL.

Summary: This paper reported the preparation of alpha-Al2O3 nanoparticles with good dispersity and controllable morphology by lowering temperature calcination of the precipitated precursor powders. The composite composed of PVP and ammonium sulfate is used to control the morphology and improve the precursor's dispersion. The resultant alpha-Al2O3 nanoparticles prepared by such a simple method were expected to be applied in transparent ceramics and high-performance catalysts.

Summary: Ti and Ti-based alloys are commonly used in aerospace and automotive components, but face challenges in wear resistance at elevated temperatures. The study found that Ti-xTiC composite coatings exhibit improved friction and wear performance compared to baseline Ti coatings, with Ti-35%TiC showing the best overall performance at 575 degrees C. The tribological behavior was attributed to the formation of stable oxide layers on the wear surfaces containing TiO2, WO3, and CoWO4.
