Summary: This study analyzed OCT findings in PIC eyes suggestive of CNV, showing that quantitative and qualitative OCT analysis can help predict the presence of CNV in these eyes. Lesions with CNV+ had larger dimensions and distinct features compared to CNV- lesions.

Summary: This study aimed to establish classification criteria for punctate inner choroiditis (PIC) using machine learning. Key criteria for PIC included choroidal spots <250 μm in diameter, minimal or absent anterior chamber and vitreous inflammation, and involvement of the posterior pole and/or mid-periphery. The resulting criteria showed a low misclassification rate and could be useful in clinical and translational research.

Summary: A heatmap analysis was performed on choroidal lesions in patients with PIC or MFC to identify distinguishing features among these uveitic entities. Results revealed three distinct patterns of fundus lesions (posterior, peripheral, and combined) in patients with different diagnoses, suggesting potential differences in disease entities and phenotypes of choroidal lesions.

Summary: The study found that among women with MFC and PIC, visual acuity remained stable during pregnancy despite a relapse rate of 44%. Pregnant patients treated with systemic corticosteroids, azathioprine or intravitreal anti-VEGF injections did not experience major maternal, obstetric and fetal complications, although one patient developed intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy while being treated with azathioprine.

Summary: This case report describes a young Caucasian female with punctate inner choroidopathy presenting sudden vision decrease, metamorphopsia, and nasal scotoma in the left eye. Treatment with an increased dose of daily prednisone resulted in progressive improvement in visual acuity and anatomical status.

Summary: The study utilized OCTA technology to analyze retinal vasculature and choriocapillaris flow in PIC patients after immunosuppressive therapy, demonstrating a reduction in abnormal choriocapillaris flow voids and improvement in visual function with immunosuppressive therapy. This suggests the potential effectiveness of OCTA in monitoring and evaluating treatment for PIC.

Summary: Myopia is a growing global health concern, particularly in females, and can lead to various eye disorders. Multifocal choroiditis is a common noninfectious uveitis that affects young myopic females. Differentiating between inflammatory lesions caused by multifocal choroiditis and degenerative lesions caused by pathologic myopia is crucial for prognosis, follow-up, and treatment planning.

Summary: Most patients with PIC/MFC and ZOR had good visual prognosis with systemic steroid therapy, showing improvement in ellipsoid zone and visual field loss. However, some patients may experience disease recurrence despite receiving maintenance steroid therapy.

Summary: This retrospective study reported the 5-year progression of chorioretinal atrophy (CRA) in patients with punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC) or multifocal choroiditis (MFC). The results showed a significant increase in CRA size with a progression rate associated with axial length and initial PIC lesion number. Aggressive treatment is suggested for eyes with higher initial lesion numbers and longer axial length to control faster CRA progression.

Summary: This study compared retinal biomarkers of choroidal neovascularization secondary to MFC, mCNV, and ICNV using OCT. The key findings were that biomarkers such as CNV diameter, sub-retinal fluids, the pitchfork sign, and choroidal thickness under CNV can help distinguish different types of CNV. There were no differences between the MFC group and ICNV group except in refractive error.

Summary: The study discovered an association between pachydrusen and PHS in patients with PCV or PNV, with frequent localization of new drusen to these choroidal lesions observed over long-term follow-up. PHS may be a form of late-staining forme fruste drusen, possibly associated with micro-ischemic changes to the choriocapillaris.

Summary: This study reported a cohort of patients with a punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC)-like reaction. The findings suggest that disruption of the retinal pigment epithelium/Bruch membrane or outer retina may trigger this reaction in susceptible patients. The PIC-like reaction may have an impact on the clinical progression and visual prognosis of the primary chorioretinal disease.

Summary: This study described a distinctive subtype of active idiopathic multifocal choroiditis (iMFC) lesions, characterized by grey-yellow chorioretinal lesions surrounded by smaller satellite dots, referred to as chrysanthemum lesions. The study retrospectively observed the multimodal imaging features of eyes with active iMFC and chrysanthemum lesions.

Summary: This study determined the prevalence and characteristics of multifocal choroiditis/punctate inner choroidopathy (MFC/PIC) in eyes with patchy atrophy caused by pathologic myopia. Some of these lesions may progress to findings indistinguishable from myopic patchy atrophy, and they also found a risk factor for the development of macular neovascularization related to MFC/PIC in eyes with pathologic myopia.
