Summary: The method introduced comprehensively maps viral cis and trans elements at single-nucleotide resolution through high-throughput random deletion, identifying essential elements in HIV and Zika virus. It provides a versatile framework for generating viral deletion mutants, aiding in the discovery of replication mechanisms and development of novel antiviral therapeutics for emerging viral infections.

Summary: HCC is a common cancer with increasing incidence caused by HBV and HCV infections, liver cirrhosis, and metabolic risk factors. Predictive factors can assess the risk of HCC, and prevention strategies include vaccination, antiviral treatment, and HCC management to reduce recurrence.

Summary: Although LRAs can efficiently reactivate latent CD4(+) T cells, their impact on HIV-1 infection and production in macrophages remains unclear. This study found that certain LRAs exhibit antireplicative features in human macrophages and identified a new viral production inhibition mechanism by bryostatin-1 specific to myeloid cells. Further research is needed to fully assess the efficacy of HIV-1 eradicating strategies.

Summary: Pin1 is a unique enzyme that promotes the isomerization of proline residues in target proteins and is involved in the development of cancer, obesity, aging, Alzheimer's disease, and the growth of various viruses (including SARS-CoV-2 and hepatitis B virus). It plays a role in viral infection, replication, and tumorigenesis.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of quadrivalent HPV vaccine on young MSM with HIV. The results showed that vaccination did not provide protection against vaccine-type HPV infection and related lesions. Therefore, it is recommended to vaccinate MSM before initiating sexual activity to prevent HPV-related diseases.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of HIV infection and pregnancy on HR-HPV infection and progression. The study found that a high HIV viral load and a low CD4 T cell count were associated with a higher prevalence of HR-HPV infections and multiple infections. It is recommended to perform more attentive and comprehensive HPV screening and cytological examination for pregnant women with HIV infection.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution of high-risk HPV in cervical cancer among women in Cote d'Ivoire. The study confirmed the significant role of HPV16/18 in cervical cancer in this region and suggested the expansion of HPV16/18 vaccination programs regardless of HIV status. Additionally, vaccines targeting other high-risk HPV types could further decrease the incidence of cervical cancer.

Summary: The study found that in healthy individuals, maternal plasma virus levels and antibody responses are not associated with cCMV following primary maternal infection. Except for CD4+ cell-depleted dams, there were no significant differences in virus levels and antibody responses between immunocompetent dams with and without AF-positive results in terms of cCMV transmission.

Summary: Among 65 cases of HIV outbreak among persons who inject drugs (PWID) in West Virginia (2019-2021), 94% were diagnosed with hepatitis C a median of 46 months before HIV diagnosis. Diagnosis of hepatitis C among PWID should lead to improved access to prevention and treatment services.

Summary: Women with HIV risk behavior are more likely to pursue Pap, HPV, and HIV testing, with the strongest association found for HIV testing and the weakest for Pap testing after adjusting for selected variables. HIV risk behavior correlates significantly with several variables, which are in turn associated with testing outcomes. However, there is no direct association between HIV risk behavior and HPV vaccination.

Summary: This study assessed the detection and determinants of anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs) in men who have sex with men living with HIV. The study found that baseline positivity for human papillomavirus 16 and p16/Ki67 were the strongest determinants of HSILs. Annual cytology and high-resolution anoscopy improved HSIL detection but couldn't compensate for between-center heterogeneity.
