Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of radiofrequency renal denervation (RDN) on time in therapeutic range (TTR) and its association with cardiovascular outcomes. The results showed sustained blood pressure reductions and higher TTR through 36 months after RDN. A 10% increase in TTR through 6 months was associated with significant risk reductions in major cardiovascular events from 6 to 36 months.

Summary: This review discusses our current understanding of platelet diversity and its implications in hemostasis and thrombosis, as well as the advanced technologies that can provide new insights in this field. The term "diversity" is used to capture the intrasubject variability of platelets, which can be intrinsic or influenced by the environment, resulting in a heterogeneous response pattern in terms of aggregation, clot promotion, and external communication. The review highlights the use of advanced technologies such as next-generation sequencing, proteomic approaches, advanced imaging techniques, and microfluidics assays to gain insights into the underlying causes of platelet molecular, structural, and functional diversity. It discusses various sources of diversity, including different allele-specific expression patterns in proliferating megakaryocytes, asymmetrical formation of proplatelets, changes in platelets induced by aging and priming, interplatelet heterogeneity in thrombus organization and stability, and platelet-dependent communications. The review also emphasizes the importance of these technologies in characterizing platelet populations and identifying platelet biomarkers for cardiovascular disease treatment.

Summary: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. Platelet hyperactivation can lead to thrombus formation and blood vessel obstruction, while a diet rich in bioactive compounds can help prevent cardiovascular diseases. This review collects the latest research on the cardioprotective and antiplatelet activities of different compounds extracted from natural products.

Summary: The study aimed to define the rates of cardiovascular and noncardiovascular death in people with specified cardiovascular diseases or accruing cardiovascular multimorbidity; findings showed that as cardiovascular multimorbidity increased, there was a greater proportion of cardiovascular and infection-related deaths; compared to those without cardiovascular diseases, individuals with three or more cardiovascular diseases experienced significantly higher incidence rate ratios for cardiovascular death.

Summary: The study found significant changes in platelet gene expression after massive weight loss, while platelet function remained unchanged. These genes may be related to improved cardiometabolic risk, but showed no association with incident diabetes or cardiovascular endpoints. Further research is needed to clarify the mechanistic importance of these observations.

Summary: This study demonstrated that metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality in US adults, while non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) showed no association with all-cause mortality after adjusting for metabolic risk factors. Individuals who met the criteria for MAFLD but not NAFLD had a higher risk of all-cause mortality.

Summary: This study demonstrates that megakaryocytes possess a functional necroptosis signaling cascade, but necroptosis in megakaryocytes is dispensable and does not impact platelet production. Platelet production was normal in the absence of MLKL, however, platelet activation and hemostasis were impaired with prolonged re-bleeding times.

Summary: In elderly patients with acute decompensated heart failure, low psoas muscle index (PMI) predicted future clinical adverse events. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that female sex, BMI, and E/e' were significantly associated with PMI. Cox proportional hazard model analysis identified low PMI as an independent predictor of the composite endpoint.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic impact of preprocedural ApoA1 on cancer mortality in patients undergoing PCI. The results showed that patients with lower levels of ApoA1 had higher mortality rates for total, gastrointestinal, and lung cancer, while HDL-C levels had no significant impact on any type of cancer mortality. Multivariable analysis confirmed that elevated ApoA1 levels independently predicted a lower risk of total and gastrointestinal cancer. Therefore, preprocedural ApoA1 levels have prognostic implications for predicting cancer mortality in PCI patients.

Summary: This study analyzed a TAVI registry database and found that the recovery of pulmonary hypertension (PH) after TAVI procedure was linearly associated with a reduced risk of poor outcomes in patients with aortic stenosis (AS). These findings suggest that the prognostic benefit of the TAVI procedure in AS patients with elevated pulmonary artery systolic pressure may be partially attributed to the recovery of PH.
