Summary: Felidae species exhibit diverse diet and hunting strategies, with body size influencing the angle between iliac articular surfaces. This angle is related to hunting techniques and prey size preference, with smaller cats having a wider angle. The findings highlight different selective pressures on Felids based on their hunting behavior and physical attributes.

Summary: Pain originating from the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) contributes to chronic lower back pain. This study analyzed computed tomography scans of 86 patients with SIJ pain to investigate the differences in sacral and SIJ anatomy between two ethnic populations. The results showed moderately correlated measurements with body height and no significant cross-ethnic differences. However, the observed anatomic variation in S2 could affect implant placement strategy, highlighting the importance of preoperative evaluation of sacral and SIJ anatomy.

Summary: Fat is embedded within the ligaments of the sacroiliac joint, serving a stabilizing function. A software called VolSEQ was used to calculate the total volume and fat volume of the joint. CT scans of healthy individuals were analyzed, revealing differences in volume based on sex and age. The fat volume remains unchanged throughout life, while the joint volume is sex-dependent after 65 years old.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of patient factors and sacroiliac joint anatomical structure on SIJ fusion outcomes. The results suggest that variant joint anatomy is more prevalent in pathological SIJ and there may be differences in surgical outcomes based on SIJ anatomy. Larger sample sizes are needed for future research to confirm these differences.

Summary: This study analyzed the prevalence of anatomical variants of sacroiliac joints (SIJ) using sCT images in 215 patients suspected of sacroiliitis. Over 80% of the evaluated joints had SIJ variants, with the most common being iliosacral complex, bipartite iliac bony plate, and crescent iliac bony plate. The occurrence of these variants was associated with age, sex, and body weight, with iliosacral complex being more frequent in men and associated with higher BMI.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between degenerative changes in the sacroiliac joints and the lumbar spine, and finds that fixed anatomical spinopelvic parameters have little impact on sacroiliac joint degeneration. Lumbar spinal degeneration significantly increases the risk of sacroiliac joint degeneration in men, but not in women.

Summary: Minimally invasive SI joint fusion using the iFuse Implant System showed greater improvements in pain and physical function compared to conservative management at 6 months, with similar findings at 1- and 2-year follow-ups. Adverse events were higher in the fusion group, with a revision surgery incidence up to 3.8% at 2 years. Limited evidence is available for comparing different minimally invasive devices.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of incidental findings on sacroiliac joint MRI and the added value of MRI-based synthetic CT for detecting and evaluating these findings. The results showed that incidental findings were more common than sacroiliitis on sacroiliac joint MRI, and more than half of these findings were only visible on synthetic CT.

Summary: This study evaluated the degree of radiological sacroiliac joint degeneration in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis and identified the related risk factors. The results showed that SIJ degeneration was more severe in patients with DLS compared to the control group. Multi-segment degenerative changes, two-level DLS, a history of hysterectomy, lower extremity pain, and pelvic pain were associated with more significant SIJ degeneration.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study investigated the morphological changes in the sacroiliac (SI) joints in individuals with and without ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). It was found that SI joint ankylosis occurred more frequently in patients with OPLL compared to those without. The presence of multilevel ossification in OPLL was associated with a higher rate of SI joint degeneration and ankylosis.

Summary: This paper introduces a new technique for sacroiliac joint injection, which involves injecting drugs into the middle part of the joint through a far-contralateral oblique approach. This technique provides easier access to the joint and can be used for both diagnosis and treatment of sacroiliac joint pain, as well as determining the suitability for surgical treatment.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and complications of a group of patients with sacroiliac joint dysfunction who received percutaneous screw fixation under imaging guidance, and evaluated the safety and effectiveness of this method. The results showed that the visual analog scale significantly improved at 6 months of follow-up, and 100% of the patients reported significant improvement in pain scores at the final follow-up. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were observed.

Summary: This study used an adaptive multicriteria decision analysis to determine the relative weights of items in the JAMRIS-SIJ scoring system for juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Experts completed a conjoint analysis survey, comparing hypothetical patient profiles to determine the point value of the measurement items. The study found differences in relative weights among the JAMRIS-SIJ measurement items and validated the weighted scoring system.

Summary: The incidence of central venous catheterization is increasing globally. Consultation with an experienced physician is crucial after a failed procedure or in the case of complications, and the use of ultrasound can improve success rates. Left internal jugular vein catheterization poses a high risk for vascular injury, and successful endovascular treatment was presented in a 65-year-old female patient with chronic renal failure in this case.

Summary: This study revealed a significant difference in thymus density and thymus/heart ratio between pediatric patients with COVID-19 infection and the control group, as well as a correlation between thymus size and lung involvement severity and blood laboratory values. The findings suggest the potential role of thymus in COVID-19 infection, providing insights for future studies on the prognostic value of thymus size in lymphopenic patients with severe disease.

Summary: This study evaluated the relationship between femoral anteversion angle and hip muscle elasticity in children with increased femoral anteversion using shear wave elastography. The results showed that the elasticity of the iliopsoas muscle and adductor magnus muscle were correlated with the femoral anteversion angle. Further studies may help develop physical therapy methods to improve muscle elasticity associated with femoral anteversion angle.

Summary: This study investigated the histologic alterations following fine-needle aspiration of the thyroid (WHAFFT) in thyroid papillary microcarcinoma and examined the significance of tumor size, fibrosis, depth, and concomitant diseases in ultrasonographic diagnosis. The results showed that there were significant associations between the histologic alterations and tumor diameter, hemorrhage, and capsular distortion. Additionally, the presence of dysplasia focus varied in different thyroid diseases.

Summary: This study presents the experience of endovascular treatment of basilar fenestration aneurysms and compares findings with existing literature data. The technical success rate of aneurysm occlusion was 100% in the study, with a slight complication rate. Literature review showed a high success rate in endovascular treatment, with recent trends leaning towards more stent use for safe and successful treatment of BAF aneurysms.
