Summary: This experimental study focused on the fretting wear behavior of PVDF piezoelectric thin film against a Si3N4 ceramic sphere under air conditions. Results indicated that creep and plastic deformation led to noticeable wrinkles on the contact surface of the PVDF thin film, which could decrease its specific wear rate.

Summary: The combined effect of cooling rate and microalloying on Cu-Zr alloy has been studied. A higher cooling rate promotes the formation of B2 CuZr austenite, while the addition of 0.5 at. % Fe promotes the formation of B19' martensite, resulting in improved wear resistance for 2 mm samples. For 4 mm samples, a lower cooling rate leads to the formation of multiphase intermetallic, and microalloying with 0.5 at. % Fe results in a relatively large volume fraction of B33 CuZr martensite, leading to reduced wear resistance.

Summary: The study showed that Mo and B additives are effective in strengthening CuNi alloy while maintaining reasonable corrosion resistance. Particularly, the combination of Mo and B additives was more effective than using a single additive to strengthen the alloy. Mo and B additives have shown great promise as new alloying elements to modify CuNi alloys.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of LIPSS-DLC and LIPSS-TiNx through water lubricated pin-on-disk tests. The results show that a substrate textured first and then coated with DLC reduces the coefficient of friction to 0.1, while a substrate textured first and then coated with TiNx exhibits the lowest wear track depth of 2 μm. Therefore, texture-coating variants can preserve LIPSS' hydrophilicity and enhance the tribological behavior of pretreated substrates under water lubrication.

Summary: A novel rotating conductive joint with an inner raceway, outer raceway, and roll ring was studied under different current conditions. The results showed that a high current could lead to a high-friction coefficient and severe wear. The grain boundary was partially annihilated and the stress decreased in the wear area under 10 and 20 A. The competition between hardening and softening resulted in the highest surface hardness at 5 A.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different hardness values of wheel-rail materials on wear rates. Results showed that wheel hardness significantly affected wear rates, while rail hardness had a smaller impact. Wear rates of both wheel and rail increased with the increase in hardness ratio and rail-wheel hardness ratio.

Summary: Cathodic cage plasma nitriding (CCPN) is an efficient technique to improve the surface properties of materials. Pulsed voltage sources are usually used to control the nitrided layer and the discharge transition. Time-resolved plasma diagnostics are important for monitoring plasma parameters, but their fundamental diagnostics are limited.

Summary: Ultrasonication is used to accelerate the growth of coatings formed on zircaloy-4 by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) at low electric power. The use of ultrasonication significantly enhances the Faradaic efficiency of the coatings and does not alter their structure and composition. The coatings consist of amorphous SiO2 as the matrix and are reinforced by crystalline ZrO2.

Summary: This study conducted LCPC rock abrasivity tests on impellers of different material hardness to explore wear characteristics on quartz and garnet minerals. Results showed a decrease in weight loss and increase in brittle fracture with higher impeller hardness. Quartz exhibited higher weight loss and ABR values due to its angular morphology compared to garnet's rounded grains. Testing with impellers of higher hardness levels resulted in significantly increased ABR values.

Summary: The cathodic arc evaporation deposition method was used to form Al-Cr-B-N coatings, and the effect of nitrogen pressure and substrate bias voltage on the properties of the coatings was investigated. The coatings exhibited a mixture of h-AlN and c-CrN phases with a crystallite size of about 4 nm, as well as an amorphous BN phase. Coatings deposited under p(N2) = 4 Pa and U-B = -100 V showed the highest resistance to wear and corrosion among the tested coatings.

Summary: A nanocomposite of activated carbon and graphene oxide has shown significant improvement in adsorption of methylene blue dye compared to individual components, with an adsorption capacity of up to 1000 mg/g. This improvement is attributed to a combination of electrostatic attraction and adsorption through AC surface pores, making it a promising material for water decontamination.
