Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/organically modified nanoclay composites using different amount of nanoclay have been prepared through solution route. The structural changes are determined through X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies, which show the transformation from alpha to beta-phase crystallization in presence of nanoclay. Polarised optical microscopic images show the changes of spherulite pattern into mesh like pattern in presence of nanoclay. Modulus of PVDF-nanocomposite increase with increasing the nanoclay content up to 4 wt.% and then slightly decreases under uniaxial tension and the improvement in mechanical responses are fitted with theoretical models. Tribological behaviour of PVDF nanocomposites is evaluated and found that nanoclay content upto 4 wt.% is effective in decreasing the wear and coefficient of friction of PVDF. Similarly, hardness of the nanocomposites also increases for clay content upto 4 wt.%. The nanoclay is working as reinforcing agent for PVDF and is improving its mechanical and frictional properties. Summary: In this study, cellulose acetate (CA) nanocomposite ultrafiltration membranes were fabricated using copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles, which effectively improved protein separation efficiency and antifouling performance. Among the membranes, the CA-0.5 nanocomposite membrane with 0.5 wt% of CuO exhibited superior hydrophilicity, water permeation, BSA separation, and antifouling performance, indicating its potential for various water and wastewater treatment applications.

Summary: A nanocomposite of activated carbon and graphene oxide has shown significant improvement in adsorption of methylene blue dye compared to individual components, with an adsorption capacity of up to 1000 mg/g. This improvement is attributed to a combination of electrostatic attraction and adsorption through AC surface pores, making it a promising material for water decontamination.

Summary: The study investigated the removal of Pb2+ ions by chemical precipitation enabled membrane filtration (CPEMF) using microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. Optimal conditions of 1 mM DIC and pH 8.5 were found to bring the permeate lead level below the drinking water standard, demonstrating the effectiveness of CPEMF in removing lead ions from water.
