Summary: This study aimed to demonstrate the potential advantages of VITOM-3D assisted paramedian forehead flap for nasal reconstruction. The use of a 3D 4K exoscope allowed for better visualization of anatomical structures, resulting in improved functional and aesthetic outcomes, as well as reduced surgical time.

Summary: Bichat's ball removal surgery induces a mild inflammatory process, which can be controlled with rescue medication. At 3 months postoperatively, there is a significant reduction in facial volume, improvement in quality of life, and satisfaction with facial esthetics. However, the efficacy of this procedure in patients over 25 years old is questionable and requires further study.

Summary: The study aims to discuss litigation related to facial cosmetic surgery, particularly focusing on written consent, in order to prevent unfortunate outcomes for both surgeons and patients. The research found that the number of legal disputes on this subject has been increasing over the years, with female patients being more prone to litigation. Appropriate written consent has proven to be beneficial for the defendant by significantly reducing litigation losses and financial damage.

Summary: Female representation in academic facial plastic surgery is low, but there is an improving trend towards greater gender parity among younger surgeons. Hispanic and Black surgeons remain significantly underrepresented in the field. Minority surgeons have similar research productivity and advancement through academic ranks as their majority counterparts.

Summary: Cephalometry analysis of facial soft tissue is important for anthropologists in facial plastic surgeries. There are two main problems in medical facial anthropometry analysis: difficult and time-consuming image calibration during surgery, and highly error-prone manual analysis using mechanical tools. To overcome these problems, an automatic method based on orthogonal images for facial anthropometry analysis in plastic surgeries is proposed. The algorithm includes eye and mouth region detection, facial contour extraction, and facial landmark detection, and has been shown to be effective in experimental results.

Summary: This study aims to facilitate communication between patients and physicians by providing four quantitative measurements: overall asymmetry index, asymmetry vector, classification, and confidence vector. The questionnaire results show that the overall asymmetry index is generally proportional to the degree of perceived asymmetry, but there are faces that are difficult to classify accurately. It is suggested to assist surgeon-patient conversations with the proposed asymmetry quadruple to reduce potential medical disputes.

Summary: This article investigates the literature gap in access and coverage for facial feminization surgery (FFS) and summarizes previous studies to assess the current policy landscape in the US. The study explores the reasons behind the lack of coverage in certain policies, identifies states with better coverage, and determines the most covered procedures. The findings highlight the importance of reaching a consensus on how to provide coverage for FFS to enhance transgender care, while also pointing out the need for further research and resources to assess the outcomes of FFS procedures. The study's significant limitation is the lack of a systematic review of the literature.

Summary: Gender differences exist among facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons in terms of age, family relationships, and number of children, but there is no significant difference in work arrangement and career satisfaction. Despite progress in closing the gender gap, disparities remain in the field.

Summary: Nasal reconstruction following total or subtotal resection is challenging, with external skin coverage easily achieved using PMFF but internal lining restoration being a major limitation. Pre-lamination of PMFF creates a composite flap with both internal and external lining, while 3D printing provides precise patient-specific dimensions for guidance in reconstruction.

Summary: This study investigated the lateral branches of the facial artery in faces and found that 64.9% of the hemifaces had such branches, with a mean diameter of 0.7 mm, mainly originating between the inferior border of the mandible and inferior labial artery. Understanding the anatomy of these lateral branches is crucial for clinicians to prevent complications during facial or maxillofacial surgeries.

Summary: This study provides a rare anatomical description of a variant pattern of the facial artery, emphasizing the importance of understanding its topographical anatomy and branching patterns. It highlights the implications of this knowledge in medical and aesthetic procedures, such as surgery and injections, for minimizing risks and preventing artery injuries.
