Summary: Research shows that multi-sample RNA-Seq experiments exhibit better stability and accuracy in RNA-seq assembly. The extended version of Ryuto can generate consensus transcriptomes and provide a better sensitivity-precision trade-off. Utilizing a (incomplete) reference for multi-sample assembly is an effective way to improve precision.

Summary: MUREN is a new method for RNA-seq data normalization, using robust least trimmed squares regression and pairwise normalization. The approach selects multiple reference genes for different samples, adjusts reference effects, and preserves possible asymmetric differentiations. The implementation code is available on github and conda platforms for access.

Summary: Quantitative genetics explains that phenotypic variation is a result of the interaction between genetic and environmental factors. Predictive breeding based on this theory has led to the development of an enviromic assembly approach, which combines ecophysiology knowledge to enhance whole-genome predictions for plant breeding. This approach aims to more accurately represent the putative phenotypic variation observed across diverse growing conditions and has shown better performance than traditional genetic predictions, especially with smaller training sets.

Summary: Based on the affective events theory, this study explores the influence of daily micro-events, such as daily hassles and uplifts, on the well-being and performance of hotel employees in a hospitality context. The findings suggest that affective reactions mediate the relationship between daily micro-events and well-being and performance. Furthermore, the study reveals that mindfulness moderates this relationship for non-mindfulness practitioners, but not for mindfulness practitioners. Overall, this study expands the understanding of the affective events theory in the hospitality context and highlights the importance of daily micro-events in influencing employees' well-being and performance.

Summary: This paper presents a robotic assembly system for efficient and accurate drilling and fastening of aircraft parts. It discusses the machine design and component functions, analyzes and models the relative positioning error, and proposes measuring instruments for error measurement and compensation. The study compares relative positioning errors across instrument configurations to recommend a good hand-eye configuration. The system also includes on-machine hand-eye calibration and positioning methods to eliminate the effect of robot's absolute positioning error. Experiments on the developed system show a maximal positioning error of 0.08 mm, meeting the accuracy standard for aircraft assembly.

Summary: Random Forest is an ensemble classification approach that constructs a group of decision trees based on bootstrap samples and random attribute selection. This paper proposes a genetic algorithm-based approach to address the challenges related to random forest construction. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms existing methods. Furthermore, the proposed approach is used to build a reliable random forest model for detecting Botnet traffic in Internet of Things environment.

Summary: This study assessed the potential use of a multi-trait genomic prediction model in predicting complex traits in wheat. The results showed that the predictive ability of complex traits can be improved by incorporating correlated secondary traits. This finding is significant for accelerating breeding cycles and improving genetic gain in wheat and other crops.

Summary: Colloidal assembly into chiral superstructures can be achieved rapidly and with materials of any chemical compositions and sizes using magnetic assembly techniques. The chiral superstructures are controlled by the strength of the magnetic field and the orientation of the magnets. Moreover, the chirality can be transferred to achiral molecules by incorporating guest molecules into the magnetic nanostructures.

Summary: By integrating genome-wide lncRNA data with a cross-ancestry meta-analysis of PDAC GWASs, a comprehensive atlas of PDAC-associated lncRNAs was depicted. PDAC-associated lncRNAs could function by altering chromatin activity, transcription factors, and RNA-binding protein binding affinity. Importantly, genetic variants linked to PDAC preferentially occur at PDAC-associated lncRNA regions, supporting the biological and clinical relevance of PDAC-associated lncRNAs.
