Summary: In this study, a new mode of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction called gas-controlled-deep eutectic solvent-based evaporation-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction was proposed for the determination of pyrethroid pesticides in fruit juices. By evaporating chloroform and releasing droplets of the extractant, the analytes were extracted into the aqueous phase. The method was optimized and validated, and successfully applied to fruit juice samples, which were found to be free of the selected pesticides.

Summary: An easy and rapid derivatization and preconcentration method called vortex assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (VA-DLLME) was proposed for the determination of selenium in lake water samples. The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) system was utilized to determine inorganic selenium through a developed derivatization procedure. The VA-DLLME method enhanced the detection capability of the GC-MS system through preconcentration of the analyte. Under optimized conditions, the VA-DLLME-Se-PDA-FVD-GC-MS method showed a LOD of 2.2 ng mL(-1) and a LOQ of 7.3 ng mL(-1). Spiking experiments with lake water confirmed the accuracy and applicability of the method with a percent recovery range of 80-106%.

Summary: Much attention has been focused on rechargeable lithium-sulfur batteries due to their high theoretical specific capacity, energy density, and cost-effectiveness. However, the rapid fading capacity is a key issue in their commercialization. Sulfuric cathode degradation is driven by passivation of the cathode surface, polysulfide shuttle, and volume changes, particularly during cycling and storage at high state of charge. Storage at 50% state of charge is used to assess the impact of remaining degradation processes. Cycling aging cells showed higher fade capacity compared to calendar aging cells. Contrary to expectations, long-chain polysulfides continue to dissolve under open-circuit conditions in calendar aging cells.

Summary: In this study, an ionic covalent organic framework (iCOF) surface grafting monolithic sorbent was prepared for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (SPME) of aristolochic acids (AAs) in various samples. The density of quaternary ammonium ions in the iCOF was modulated for enhanced adsorption of AAs. The iCOF surface grafting monolithic sorbent was confirmed by different means. Several operating conditions were optimized to develop the online in-tube SPME-HPLC method, which showed good linearity, low limits of detection, and high recoveries for AAs in serum samples.
