Summary: SARS-CoV-2 vaccination has proven highly effective in preventing COVID-19, reducing global deaths and hospitalizations. While vaccine distribution remains unequal, it is crucial to organize mass vaccination campaigns worldwide to control the spread of the virus. This systematic review confirms that COVID-19 vaccination campaigns are cost-effective and sustainable public health measures in fighting the pandemic.

Summary: Existing studies on emissions reduction mainly focus on technical potential and abatement costs, neglecting firms' willingness to pay (WTP) for emissions reduction. This paper estimates the maximum WTP for carbon abatement in China's manufacturing industry (CMI) firms using a large sample from a data envelopment analysis model. The results show that the maximum WTP is significantly constrained by the isocost carbon abatement curve at RMB 8.65 million for the representative CMI firm, and WTP varies among sub-sectors. Profitability and production scales positively affect firms' WTP, while innovation investment has a negative effect.

Summary: Improving the highly flexible hyperbolic absolute risk aversion (HARA) utility function can help better estimate the maximum willingness to pay threshold (K). By evaluating optimal WTP thresholds based on literature-based estimates of relative risk aversion and relative prudence parameters, we can refine the understanding of how optimal CEA thresholds change with income.

Summary: This study examines households' preferences, willingness to pay, and determinants of adopting improved cook stoves in rural Ethiopia. Findings suggest that households were aware of the benefits of improved cook stoves but were constrained by technology availability and product quality. Factors such as education, income, non-farm employment, and livestock ownership influenced the adoption of new gas stoves.

Summary: Criticism against QALYs includes methodological issues that need to be addressed by stakeholders, as well as ethical concerns that require political decisions based on societal values. Overcoming these criticisms is crucial for integrating QALYs into health technology assessment and value-based pricing to address high drug costs and healthcare spending in the US.

Summary: This study examines the response and value of a new technology-based carbon label on food products by US consumers. The results show that the individual valuation of the carbon labeled bread is $4 per 20 oz., slightly lower compared to conventional and organic bread. Additionally, the valuation of the novel carbon labeled bread would be higher among certain market segments, including non-white, liberal and well-educated consumers, as well as those with a high level of knowledge about the causes of climate change.

Summary: Information provision is crucial for garnering public cooperation in conserving unfamiliar ecosystems towards a sustainable society. This study examines the relationship between the manner of information provision and personal attributes of recipients in influencing their willingness to pay for ecosystem conservation using Japanese alpine plants as a case study. The results show that adapting the amount and format of information according to target audiences is essential for successful conservation efforts.

Summary: The study found that extending screening mammography to age 80 may have benefits for some women, but the absolute reduction in death rates is small for women with comorbidities. Therefore, women over 75 should weigh the risks and benefits when considering screening mammography.

Summary: Extending mammography screening to age 80 appears to be cost-effective in certain scenarios, but the absolute number of deaths averted is small, especially for women with comorbidities. Women considering screening beyond age 75 should carefully weigh the potential harms of overdiagnosis against the potential benefits of averting breast cancer death.

Summary: This study aimed to compare WTP/QALY and GDP per capita, and to develop a new CE threshold range based on WTP using GDP per capita. The results showed that a CE threshold range of 0.5-1.5 times GDP per capita is appropriate, and there is a positive correlation between WTP/QALY and healthy life expectancy.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of land transfer on farmers' willingness to pay for straw return. The results show that less than 40% of farmers are willing to pay for straw return, and land transfer, particularly transfer-in, increases farmers' willingness to pay and the amount they are willing to pay. Furthermore, there are differences in willingness based on land operation scale and generation.

It also highlights the limitations of measuring QOL, the importance of including public long-term care costs and informal care costs in the assessment, and the recognition of other elements of care burden that cannot be quantitatively measured.
