Summary: This study examined the impact of health literacy on active aging in individuals with different chronic conditions, finding that health literacy and the number of chronic conditions were correlated with active aging scores. Health literacy was a stronger predictor of active aging than chronic conditions, even after adjusting for cognitive capacity, depressive symptoms, physical performance, and education level. Higher health literacy may enable older individuals to maintain higher levels of active aging, even in the presence of multiple chronic conditions.
