However, its role in gastric cancer (GC) is not well understood. The study showed that ELFN1-AS1 promotes GC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and EMT, and inhibits apoptosis by acting as a sponge for miR-211-3p and upregulating TRIM29 expression. Summary: This study identified a novel circRNA, circUBAP2, in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) through bioinformatics analysis. CircUBAP2 was significantly upregulated in HCC tissues and correlated with aggressive clinical characteristics and poor prognosis. Functionally, circUBAP2 promoted cell proliferation, colony formation, migration, and invasion in vitro, and enhanced tumor growth and pulmonary metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, circUBAP2 acted as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for miR-194-3p, thereby regulating the expression of MMP9 and promoting HCC progression. CircUBAP2 could potentially serve as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for HCC patients.

Summary: This study found that low expression of TP53INP2 is associated with poor survival in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. As the malignancy of CRC progresses, TP53INP2 expression gradually decreases. Knockdown of TP53INP2 promotes CRC cell proliferation and tumor growth. Mechanistically, TP53INP2 deficiency decreases phosphorylation of beta-catenin, leading to increased accumulation and enhanced nuclear translocation and transcriptional activity. Additionally, TP53INP2 sequesters TIM50, inhibiting its activation of beta-catenin. In conclusion, downregulation of TP53INP2 promotes CRC progression by activating beta-catenin.
