Summary: The field of hair research has advanced significantly in recent decades, particularly in the development of in vitro hair follicle models. The focus has been on manipulating cellular and molecular features to grow functional in vitro hair follicles. Challenges still remain in fully understanding follicle behavior and successfully creating different types of hair through in vitro methods.

Summary: In this study, we found that MXD-NPs prepared using the bead mill method demonstrated better hair follicle delivery and hair growth promotion compared to commercially available CA-MXD solution. MXD-NPs enabled the accumulation of MXD in the upper hair follicles more efficiently and activated HFSC, leading to hair growth.

Summary: In this study, a small molecule called GA-amide was found to effectively penetrate the blood-brain barrier and accumulate in the tumor region. GA-amide showed significant efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth in various in vivo glioma models. The direct binding target of GA-amide was identified as WDR1, and through interaction with WDR1, GA-amide promoted the formation of a complex involving WDR1, MYH9, and Cofilin, resulting in the inhibition of glioma cell invasion and induction of apoptosis.

Summary: Protocols for in vitro culture of human hair follicles were developed 30 years ago, and now a method for the in vitro culture of chicken feather follicles has been successfully developed. The study shows that this method can maintain the structure and biology of feather follicles close to their in vivo state, despite transcriptional modifications of some genes involved in feather development. This new culture model can be used to study interactions between feathers and pathogens or toxins, and reduce animal experimentation.

Summary: Lipidated derivatives of brartemicin have shown promising potential as vaccine adjuvants by activating macrophages through Mincle signaling. The amide derivatives showed comparable, if not superior, activity to their ester-linked counterparts in activating macrophages, and also induced the production of IL-1 beta in human-derived monocytes, indicating their potential as vaccine adjuvants.

Summary: Research has shown that resveratrol (RSV) can significantly promote hair growth in mice and delay human hair follicles entering the catagen phase. Additionally, in vitro experiments have demonstrated that RSV promotes the proliferation of human dermal papilla cells and protects them from oxidative damage.

Summary: The hair follicle is an important mini-organ of the skin, consisting of various types of cells. Dermal papilla cells and T beta 4 protein play crucial roles in the proliferation and differentiation of hair follicle stem cells. T beta 4 promotes hair follicle growth and development by enhancing the migration and differentiation of stem cells and their progeny.

Summary: Many people suffer from hair loss and abnormal skin pigmentation, and there is a need for simple assays to support drug discovery research. We developed a novel in vivo assay called the whisker follicle microinjection assay, which uses mouse whisker follicles to evaluate the effects of molecules on hair growth and coloring. This assay proved to be sensitive and quantitative, and we identified several chemicals and proteins that promote or inhibit hair growth. The whisker follicle microinjection assay will be valuable for studying protein functions and developing drugs to treat hair loss and abnormal skin pigmentation.

Summary: The study suggests that TGF beta 2 regulates melanogenesis in human melanocytes through OPN3 and downstream signaling pathways, independently of the TGF beta 2 receptor. Inhibition of OPN3 affects TYR activity and expression of TRP-1 and TRP-2 in melanocytes, indicating its role in melanin synthesis.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms of platelet lysate (PL) in promoting hair growth through animal models, organ-cultured hair follicles, and RNA-seq analysis. A randomized, controlled, double-blind study with 107 AGA patients confirms the therapeutic efficacy of PL in improving hair quality. The study concludes that PL has specific molecular mechanisms in promoting hair growth and exhibits similar effects compared to PRP in AGA patients.

Summary: New hybrid-type strigolactone mimics were designed and tested for their germination and growth-promoting activities. Compound 6 showed good germination activity against parasitic weed and significant inhibitory activity against Arabidopsis root growth and lateral root formation, similar to GR24. Molecular docking studies revealed that compound 6 had a similar binding mode to GR24.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different concentrations of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on the growth, antrum formation, viability, and ultrastructure of bovine secondary follicles cultured in vitro. The results showed that supplementation with 1 mM NAC increased calcein staining and the growth rate in these follicles. However, higher concentrations of NAC caused damage to cell membranes and organelles, as well as reducing the percentages of growing follicles.

Summary: Expression wrinkles develop over time due to repeated facial movements, like smiling and frowning. The study found striking similarities in facial wrinkle patterns between mothers with relaxed faces and daughters with angry or smiling faces. Older volunteers using a cosmetic product containing DABBA showed a decrease in visible wrinkles, especially on the forehead when frowning.

Summary: The study investigated the extract of the alpine plant Edelweiss for its ability to modulate hair follicle growth and inhibit hair loss while promoting hair regeneration. The results showed that the extract significantly prolonged the anagen phase in hair follicles, stimulated hair matrix keratinocyte proliferation, and increased dermal papilla inductivity, supporting its potential as an anti-hair loss agent.
