Summary: This study aimed to investigate the underlying causes and regional patterns of sudden death in football players worldwide. The results showed that coronary artery disease was the leading cause in players over 35 years old, while sudden unexplained death was the main cause in players under 35. Additionally, there were regional variations in the causes of sudden cardiac death, which need to be further verified.

There was a Lower rate of appropriate ICD therapy in US sites, consistent with a lower-risk population, and no significant difference in SCD in US vs. non-US patients who did not receive an ICD.

Summary: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a common disorder in premature infants characterized by inflammation and necrosis in the intestine. This study shows that adenosine, more abundant in infants, plays a role in preventing NEC by enhancing the function and migration of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). The study also reveals that MDSCs expressing the adenosine receptor A2B (A2BR) are essential for intestinal homeostasis in newborns.

Summary: This study analyzed 100 Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) cases and identified pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants in 22 cases. Additionally, the study revealed 83 relatives at risk of SCD through cardiological and genetic screening. These findings highlight the clinical importance of genetic testing and family screening in the diagnosis and risk assessment of SCD. The establishment of a national collaboration group is crucial for further development of these diagnostic tests.

Summary: This paper evaluates the impact of economic uncertainty on suicide rates worldwide. The results suggest that increased economic uncertainty, as well as unemployment and economic growth, may lead to a higher risk of suicide. The greatest impact of economic uncertainty is found in Africa and the Middle East. The study highlights the usefulness of uncertainty indicators for detecting periods of increased suicide risk and designing prevention strategies.

Summary: Consumption of a healthy diet improves cardiovascular risk factors and reduces the development of cardiovascular disease. Food insecure adults often consume an unhealthy diet, promoting obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program aims to address food insecurity by increasing access to healthy foods. However, the association between SNAP participation and cardiovascular disease risk factors among food insecure adults remains unclear.

This review discusses the cardiovascular effects of physical activity and exercise, as well as the safe implementation in patients with cardiovascular disease.
