Summary: Three copper(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized, and their interactions with HS-DNA/BSA were investigated. The complexes were found to interact with HS-DNA via an intercalative mode and quench the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA through a static mechanism. The fluorescence data indicated that the complexes exhibited good binding affinity to BSA, with only one available binding site. The complexes displayed cytotoxicity against tumor cells and induced apoptosis in MCF-7 and HeLa cells.

Summary: The photophysical properties of Cu(II) complexes with different types of porphyrins were studied using experimental and computational methods, revealing the important role of ligand-to-metal charge-transfer states in directing system behavior. The experiments demonstrated that the system can undergo either intersystem crossing or coordinative expansion depending on the presence of Lewis bases. The results also showed that the processes of coordinative expansion and crossing to the triplet hypersurface occur in different time scales and are mutually exclusive.

Summary: Material modification with low surface energy can achieve lower surface free energy on micro-and nano-rough structures, which is crucial for developing superhydrophobic surfaces. In this study, attapulgite (APT) was modified with alkylamine, alkylammonium salt, and stearic acid, and the interaction between low surface materials and attapulgite was explained.
