Summary: The study validated the prognostic value of desmoplastic reaction (DR) in colorectal cancer and found that DR classification is an independent prognostic factor. Histological categorisation of DR provides important prognostic information for efficient selection of colon cancer patients who would benefit from postoperative adjuvant therapy.

Summary: By evaluating the survival of stage III CC patients, the significance of tumor budding (Bd) for risk stratification was explored. Bd demonstrated its independent prognostic value for disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS), and could be combined with pTN stage and Immunoscore (R) subgroups to improve disease prognostication.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between tumor budding (TB) and clinicopathological characteristics, postoperative relapse, and survival in patients with stage II colon cancer. The results indicated that high-grade TB was associated with advanced tumor stage, presence of lymphovascular invasion, and higher relapse rates. Patients with high-grade TB had worse relapse-free survival and overall survival rates. Additionally, high-grade TB was a significant predictor for both relapse-free survival and overall survival. High-grade TB was also associated with a higher incidence of lung and liver relapses. Patients with high-grade TB who received adjuvant chemotherapy did not show any lung or liver relapse.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between P53 mutation and tumor budding in stage I-II gastric cancer. The results showed that P53 mutation rate was closely correlated with clinicopathological features, such as Lauren classification, tumor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, and clinical stage. Tumor budding was also closely correlated with these features. Furthermore, P53 mutation and tumor budding were found to be independent prognostic factors for 5-year survival in patients with stage I-II gastric cancer.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical implications of CUL9 expression in colon cancer patients, particularly its prognostic and predictive value for postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. The results showed that high CUL9 expression was an independent prognostic factor for survival outcomes and could help identify high-risk patients who would benefit from standard 6-month chemotherapy regimens.

Summary: This study identified BGN as a promising biomarker for diagnosis, prognosis, and immunotherapeutic response in colon cancer patients. Elevated BGN expression was associated with worse overall survival and unfavorable clinicopathological features. Mechanistically, BGN was found to be involved in the regulation of immune response in the tumor microenvironment, particularly in the immunosuppressive phenotype. High BGN expression was also correlated with the infiltration of immune cells, such as M2 macrophages and induced Tregs. Furthermore, high BGN expression was associated with a better response to immunotherapy in colon cancer patients.

Summary: By analyzing tissue samples from stage II colon cancer patients, we developed a predictive model based on long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) to improve the accuracy of prognosis prediction. This model consists of 11 lncRNAs and can categorize patients into high-risk and low-risk groups. It has independent predictive value and stronger prognostic ability compared to current clinical risk factors. The model can facilitate personalized treatment decisions and postoperative counseling, ultimately leading to improved survival.

Summary: A peritoneal loose body (PLB) is a tissue completely separated from other intraperitoneal organs, typically found incidentally during surgery, examination, or autopsy. We report a case of a giant PLB located outside the peritoneal cavity, adjacent to the rectovesical excavation. Summary: This study aims to explore whether the reasonable detection rate of endoscopically diagnosed lesions as adenomas can be calculated and used as a surrogate colonoscopy quality indicator. By analyzing a database generated from colonoscopy reports, it was found that the number of endoscopic adenomas was higher than pathological adenomas primarily due to non-resection during the examination. The overall polyp detection rate, endoscopic ADR, and pathological ADR were 56.4%, 48.0%, and 32.7% respectively.
