Summary: The activation of hepatic stellate cells and the protection of hepatocytes are important mechanisms for the anti-fibrotic effect of MSCs. This study found that HUC-MSCs inhibit HSCs activation and alleviate liver fibrosis by up-regulating the expression of miR-148a-5p and inhibiting the Notch signaling pathway.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanism underlying the inhibition of endothelial mitophagy by low blood flow shear stress (SS) through the Cav-1/miR-7-5p/SQSTM1 signaling pathway. The results show that low SS suppresses endothelial mitophagy, leading to impaired mitochondrial homeostasis and endothelial dysfunction.

Summary: Breast cancer is a complex disease with different molecular subtypes. Notch signaling pathway plays a crucial role in breast cancer progression by regulating the differentiation of breast epithelial cells. Through analysis of large-scale databases, we found that Notch regulators have different roles and functions in different subtypes. Modulating the expression levels of Notch receptors and effectors may be a potential therapeutic approach for breast cancer.

Summary: Notch signaling plays a crucial role in cancer development and targeting this pathway has potential therapeutic benefits. In addition to pharmaceutical agents, dietary and natural agents have been explored as alternative approaches to modulating Notch signaling. Certain dietary agents have been found to regulate Notch pathway components in different types of cancer, leading to reduced cell viability and tumor growth.

Summary: Despite improvements in therapies and screening strategies, lung cancer prognosis remains poor, especially for patients with metastatic tumors. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a major cause of the low survival rate, and microRNA miR-486-5p has been identified as a potential therapeutic target for lung cancer.

Summary: Recent studies have identified circSIPA1L1 as an upregulated circular RNA in osteosarcoma, which acts as a molecular sponge for miR-411-5p to increase RAB9A expression, promoting tumorigenesis. Silencing circSIPA1L1 attenuates the malignant properties of OS cells, and inhibition of miR-411-5p or overexpression of RAB9A reverses the anti-tumor effects caused by circSIPA1L1 knockdown.

Summary: Wnt signaling pathway plays a crucial role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration in both embryonic and adult stages. Dysregulation of this pathway can contribute to the development of different types of cancer, including acute myeloid leukemia. In this review, we discuss the potential therapeutic targeting of Wnt to eliminate leukemic stem cells in AML.

Summary: Tumorigenic cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cells within tumors that have distinct genetic and phenotypic profiles and signaling pathways compared to other tumor cells. Targeting the unique self-renewal and differentiation properties of CSCs could revolutionize cancer therapy. Understanding the signaling mechanisms of CSCs will improve our knowledge of cancer pathology and treatment.

Summary: The miR-252-5p-Rab6 regulatory axis controls the Notch signaling pathway in Drosophila wing development. The loss of miR-252 increases wing size, while its overexpression leads to patterning defects in adult wings. The overexpression-induced wing phenotypes are caused by aberrant Notch signaling and intracellular accumulation of full-length Notch receptor, possibly due to defects in intracellular trafficking and autophagy-mediated degradation.

Summary: This study demonstrated that exosomal lncRNA HCG18 regulates M2 macrophage polarization in gastric cancer by binding to miR-875-3p, which then binds to KLF4. The upregulation of KLF4 expression by exosomal lncRNA HCG18 facilitates M2 macrophage polarization and alleviates gastric cancer development.

Summary: By categorizing gastric cancer into three subtypes based on 14 cancer functional states, we identified distinct characteristics and differences between the subtypes at the single-cell level. The subtypes differed in terms of tumor progression, prognosis, metabolic level, immune cell infiltration, copy number variations, tumor mutational burden, and response to immunotherapy. Additionally, we developed a prognostic model based on cancer functional status that showed robustness.
