Summary: This paper introduces an early stage multi-objective optimization method to search for the best trade-offs between durability and comfort in vehicle chassis systems before deployment of parameters. By utilizing virtual proving ground simulation, the study demonstrates the ability to reveal general trends between these two chassis specifications through the application case on an example project. Additionally, data-mining methods show the design preferences and orientations of each group in the simulation database.

Summary: This paper presents the application of interval algebra in affine formulation to assess damage propagation in test reinforced concrete elements subjected to accelerated corrosion of rebar, taking into account the uncertainty of parameters. Corrosion interactions were captured by introducing the interval tensor of the velocity of volumetric strain. The results of the calculations were verified using the Monte Carlo method, treating the model parameters as random variables with a uniform distribution.

Summary: A new road piezoelectric transducer with specified flexibility was designed and compared with two structures. The spring-type piezoelectric energy harvester showed 2.24 times higher output power compared to the plane type, and it exhibited good durability under fatigue testing, making it suitable for road engineering. In actual road testing, the spring-type piezoelectric harvester achieved a maximum output power of 592.77 mW for a matching resistance of 3 k omega when a pickup truck drove at a speed of 40 km h(-1).

Summary: The travel times of freight trucks are crucial for trip planning, route efficiency, and resource allocation. This research focuses on estimating truck travel times using on-network and off-network characteristics. The study finds that land uses such as office areas, transportation facilities, heavy commercial, and light industrial have an impact on truck travel times. A linear model developed using data from a 0.25-mile buffer provides the best estimation for truck travel times.

Summary: This paper introduces a simulation-based Mission Mobility Reliability (MMR) analysis framework to address uncertainty in mobility prediction for off-road ground vehicles. It proposes a concept of MMR to quantify reliability of mission paths through different soil types, and utilizes a single-loop Kriging surrogate modeling method to overcome computational challenges. Additionally, a dynamic updating scheme is presented to regularly update MMR estimations using online mobility data during missions for more effective decision-making.

Summary: This paper presents an experimental program on the tensile properties of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars made of different resin matrices after exposure to alkaline solution immersion, elevated temperature, and constant load. The results show that both alkaline exposure and load significantly decrease the strength of GFRP bars, while the presence of a constant tensile load has a minimal additional detrimental effect on the tensile properties of GFRP bars.

Summary: Reliability-based global path planning incorporates reliability constraints into path planning for off-road autonomous ground vehicles to ensure reliable operation in uncertain off-road environments. This work proposes an efficient approach called ER-RRT* that combines adaptive surrogate modeling with the RRT* algorithm to reduce the required mobility simulations for path planning. The approach uses a surrogate model for vehicle mobility prediction and iteratively integrates exploration trees and reliability assessment to refine the surrogate model and guide the exploration of random trees.

Summary: This article analyzes the driveline operation of a high-mobility Jelcz 442.32 wheeled vehicle, which has rigid drive axles connected to drive shafts with two universal joints to resolve kinematic incompatibility. The conditions for connecting the drive shafts with two universal joints were discussed, and the kinematic ratio of the complete drive shaft was defined. The analysis shows that the kinematic incompatibility is constantly present in the analyzed vehicle, and its value depends on various factors such as the loading methods, vehicle movement conditions, and ground type, as well as the correct manufacturing and assembly of the vehicle springs.
