Summary: Preeclampsia (PE) is a complication of pregnancy that can have serious consequences for both mother and fetus. Oxidative stress caused by an imbalance of oxidants and antioxidants in the placenta is considered a key mechanism in PE, and the mitochondrial ferritin (FtMt) plays a role in protecting the mitochondria from this stress. The study found that FtMt has a significant regulatory effect on the function of PE trophoblast cells after hypoxia.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of metformin and bevacizumab on ovarian cancer cell proliferation, tumor hypoxia, and tumor stem cells in vitro and in vivo. The results showed that the combination therapy significantly inhibited tumor growth, reduced the proportion of cancer stem cells, and improved tumor hypoxia in the microenvironment.

Summary: HIF is a transcription factor that activates the adaptive hypoxic response during low oxygen levels. HIF-1 and HIF-2 mediate this response in a sequential manner, but their transcriptional profiles differ and the transition between them is not well understood.

Summary: The cellular adaptive response to hypoxia is regulated by hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), HIF-1 and HIF-2. miRNAs play a significant role in modulating cellular signaling pathways during the hypoxic adaptive response.

Summary: This study found that puerarin inhibited the upregulation of VEGF in RPE cells under hypoxia by decreasing the expression of HIF-1α. Additionally, puerarin attenuated the interaction between JAK2 and STAT3, leading to the prevention of p-STAT3 nucleus translocation. These findings suggest that puerarin effectively inhibits hypoxia-induced VEGF upregulation in RPE cells through the JAK2/STAT3 pathway.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which arsenic sulfide (As4S4) represses the metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Cell viability, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis were assessed to evaluate the effect of As4S4 on HCC cell lines. Key molecules involved in metastasis were examined to determine the underlying pathway. The results showed that As4S4 effectively suppressed the proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis of HCC cells, and it achieved this by inhibiting the expression of HIF-1 alpha/VEGF pathway-related molecules.

Summary: This study found that zinc improves neurological function recovery during the cerebral ischemia repair stage by promoting astrocyte induced angiogenesis. Zinc alleviates brain atrophy and enhances neurological function recovery. Furthermore, zinc increases the protein levels of HIF-1 alpha, VEGF-A, and VEGF-R2 in astrocytes, thereby promoting angiogenesis during cerebral ischemic repair.

Summary: HIF-1 alpha stabilization has a critical role in modifying pulmonary microcirculatory perfusion, which is important in the pathogenesis of BPD. This study investigated the modulation of HIF-1 alpha stabilization through Grx1 ablation and its effects on the pathology of BPD in a mouse model. The results showed that Grx1 ablation increased levels of GSH-protein adducts, leading to improvements in alveolar numbers, capillary density, and survival rate. These effects were mediated through HIF-1 alpha glutathionylation and VEGF-A production in the lung tissue.

Summary: The study revealed that overexpression of HIF-1 alpha in hepatocellular carcinoma is associated with poorer prognosis and clinicopathological features, while HIF-2 alpha overexpression does not show the same associations. This suggests different roles of HIF-1 alpha and HIF-2 alpha in the progression and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
