Summary: This study found that the online health information-seeking behaviors by caregivers of pediatric cancer patients in China are associated with delays in seeking medical treatment. The qualitative analysis showed that caregivers' online health information-seeking behaviors impact the cancer care pathway by influencing their symptom appraisal and acceptance of healthcare providers' decisions. Therefore, the study suggests that regulating online health information and providing specialized online consultations by healthcare providers could help reduce delays in seeking medical treatment for pediatric cancer patients.

Summary: This study used a population database to investigate the association between social environments and outcomes in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma. The results showed that patients with higher social vulnerability had worse disease-specific survival, later stage diagnosis, and lower likelihood of receiving multimodal therapy.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of patients with breast cancer using public health systems in Harris County (Texas, USA) and Southeast Brazil, finding that treatment delay does not affect treatment outcomes in both regions. Timely screening and diagnosis of breast cancer are crucial for these populations.

Summary: This study reviewed 16 studies and found that a significant correlation between patient delay and advanced stage cancer was reported in Asian studies only, while professional delay and total diagnostic delay were generally found to be non-correlated with advanced stage cancer at diagnosis. Time to treatment (TTI) was found to be correlated with survival in some studies, but results varied.

Summary: Sensation seeking and delay discounting are strong predictors of risk-taking behaviors, but the relationship between the two remains unclear. This study found that high sensation seekers, compared to low sensation seekers, showed a greater delay discounting effect at the neural level when rewards were large. This abnormality was further confirmed by electrocortical hypersensitivity to large immediate rewards and enhanced neural coding of reward magnitude in high sensation seekers. The findings support both the hyperactive approach theory and the optimal arousal theory in sensation seeking and have implications for preventing and intervening in maladaptive risk-taking behaviors.

Summary: This study developed machine-learning classifiers using metatranscriptomic data from saliva samples to advance early diagnostics for oral cancers. The classifiers showed high sensitivity and specificity, indicating the potential clinical utility of AI/ML models for diagnosing oral cancers early and improving patient outcomes.

Summary: Autoimmune diseases (ADs) affect a significant portion of the population and can cause various clinical symptoms. This review focuses on the delay in diagnosing oral ADs, such as oral lichen planus, oral Pemphigus Vulgaris, mucous membrane pemphigoid, and Sjogren syndrome. The diagnosis of these diseases is often delayed due to the non-specific symptoms and lack of awareness among healthcare professionals. This delay can be attributed to both the healthcare system and the patients themselves.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the reasons for the delay in seeking treatment for dental caries among patients attending public dental clinics in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The results showed that the main reasons for delayed seeking dental care included self-negligence, the practice of self-medication, and ignorance. The delay in seeking care was not dependent on the sociodemographic characteristics of individuals.

Summary: Disparities in the presentation and treatment of anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) exist by sex and race/ethnicity, which may reflect differences in access to care and patient and provider preferences. Although survival is similarly poor across groups, efforts should be made to address the potential exacerbation of disparities due to the changing landscape of treatments for ATC.

Summary: This paper presents a constructive approach to extremum seeking using a time-delay approach to averaging. The stability and bounds of the resulting time-delay system are analyzed, and quantitative calculations are provided for extremum values and bounds. The method is shown to be efficient in extremum seeking.

Summary: The study revealed that delays in diagnosis and treatment are common among Vietnamese breast cancer patients, with notable barriers including financial, physical, psychological, and knowledge-related issues. The impact of these barriers appears to be stronger among women living in rural areas. Policy interventions are needed to address this public health issue.

Summary: First-line treatments for oral cancer include surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. However, tumor recurrence and acquired resistance remain major challenges. PARP1 upregulation in recurrent tumor cells was found, and PARP inhibitors were shown to partially reverse treatment resistance.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the treatment delay and tumor size of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed longer treatment delay and more advanced tumor staging in 2020, emphasizing the importance of not neglecting the treatment of oral cancer patients in the context of the pandemic.

Summary: The paper introduces a new design for multivariable extremum seeking for static maps with arbitrarily long time delays, allowing different delays in each input channel and output delays, and utilizing gradient- and Newton-based frameworks. Their sequential predictor based approach provides an alternative to earlier prediction methods and leads to extremum seeking designs with dynamical extensions that eliminate the need for distributed terms. The good performance of their methods is illustrated through a source seeking example.

Summary: Oral and oropharyngeal cancers have a high worldwide incidence and mortality rate. The poor prognosis is mainly due to late diagnosis in advanced stages, where treatment is not effective. Reducing the delay in diagnosis is crucial to improve patient outcomes.
