Summary: This study reports a method of facilitating SO2/NO2 separation through NO2 dimerization. The NO2 dimerization is triggered by temperature and pressure, resulting in N2O4 with a larger molecular size, which inhibits N2O4 diffusion into the zeolite pore and achieves high separation selectivity. High performance SO2/NO2 separation was achieved on an SSZ-13 zeolite membrane.

Summary: This study conducted the first experimental investigation on porous organic cages (POCs) for capturing SO2. It was found that a tertiary amine POC (6FT-RCC3) exhibited high and reversible SO2 capture, demonstrating excellent performance for at least 50 adsorption-desorption cycles. The adsorption behavior was analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy, C-13 CP-MAS NMR experiments, and computational calculations.

Summary: The Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP) in India are highly polluted, and understanding the impact of landscape factors on air pollution is crucial for sustainable development. Satellite data analysis from 2005 to 2019 showed an overall increase in aerosol and sulfur dioxide levels, with the lower IGP experiencing the highest rate of enhancement. However, nitrogen dioxide levels decreased after 2012, except in the middle IGP.

Summary: The study explored the adsorption of NO2 and SO2 on MgO/(Mg0.5Ni0.5)O/MgO(1 0 0) and found that it is tunable through applied strain and certain promoters like Ca and Sr. The use of promoters was more effective in enhancing the strength of NO2 and SO2 adsorption compared to strain. The interactions between the adsorbate and the surface were further elucidated through an investigation of the density of states and Bader charge.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption capacity of MgO/Fe3O4 modified coconut shell biochar (MCSB) for Atrazine removal in water was investigated. The results showed that the synthesized MCSB adsorbent could effectively uptake and remove Atrazine in water. The optimization conditions for achieving the highest Atrazine removal included high pH, low concentration, low adsorbent dosage, and high reaction temperature.

Summary: This study proposes a membrane separation strategy using chabazite zeolite (SSZ-13) membranes to separate SO2 from NO2, and provides insights into the feasibility and advantages of this process using molecular simulation. The results show that SO2 has a strong competitive adsorption capacity, while NO2 is significantly reduced due to dimerization. Additionally, the study reveals the rapid transport of NO2 and the temperature dependence of SO2 diffusion on SSZ-13.

Summary: This study reviews the production, trends, and sources of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) in Asian countries. The findings suggest that NO2 and SO2 pollution is increasing due to various factors such as industrial activity and fossil fuel burning. There is a significant concern about the health risks associated with these pollutants in several countries, and the lack of quality datasets and adequate research further complicates their management and control.

Summary: The aim of this study was to estimate the changes in pollutant concentrations and develop a spatiotemporal pattern in Central and Eastern Europe, specifically in Poland and Ukraine. The difficulty in accessing the war-afflicted area in Ukraine, combined with pollution from industrial facilities and explosive weapons, poses a threat to air quality. The study used satellite data and ground measurements to analyze the distribution of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide concentrations, finding an increase in NO2 concentration in Poland and a decrease in SO2 and CO concentrations in both countries, with a decrease in NO2 concentration in Ukraine.

Summary: This study aimed to prepare astaxanthin nanoparticles using an emulsification/solvent evaporation method and then to evaluate their bioavailability for biomedical applications. The results showed that the nanoparticles had well-defined spherical morphology with an average diameter of 90 nm and exhibited high antioxidant activity and improved cell uptake compared to free astaxanthin. Moreover, they demonstrated no cytotoxicity and showed a more powerful cytoprotective effect on oxidative cell damage. In addition, the nanoparticles affected the expression of key genes in lipid metabolism, reducing cellular lipid accumulation. These findings highlight the great potential of astaxanthin nanoparticles for human health and nutrition applications.

Summary: In this study, a flame-retardant system was successfully created by combining cuprous(I) oxide nanoparticles (Cu2ONPs) and APP@PEI materials for epoxy (EP) resin fabrication. The combination of Cu2ONPs and APP@PEI significantly enhanced the flame resistance of EP resin, achieving a V-0 rating and a higher limiting oxygen index value compared to neat EP resin. The Cu2ONPs and APP@PEI were well dispersed in the EP resin and did not undergo structural transformation during material preparation. Additionally, the Cu2ONPs and APP@PEI improved the thermal conductivity and strength of the EP-based composite material.
