Summary: The rate of cesarean delivery on maternal request has been increasing in the United States over the last few decades. This study aims to describe the prevalence and trends of this type of cesarean delivery and compare the characteristics and outcomes of women who opt for it. The study found that cesarean delivery on maternal request is more common among older women with higher income and private insurance. However, it is associated with higher risks of adverse events, such as thromboembolism and myocardial infarction.

Summary: Elective cesarean delivery on maternal request is a challenging topic that requires consideration of multiple factors. Global rates of elective cesarean vary. Clinicians should follow good clinical practice and provide family counseling to discuss the benefits and potential risks of elective cesarean delivery.

Summary: Anaemia during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of caesarean delivery. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between caesarean delivery and maternal anaemia. Relevant studies on this topic were searched in several databases. The assessment and review were conducted using a specific tool. The results demonstrated that women with anaemia had a higher risk of caesarean delivery compared to non-anaemic women.

Summary: This study aimed to review obstetrical providers' personal preferences for cesarean delivery on maternal request in uncomplicated pregnancies. The results showed that overall, 14.3% of obstetrician-gynecologists would prefer cesarean delivery on maternal request in a hypothetical nulliparous term singleton vertex pregnancy, and this percentage has increased over the last 20 years. Alternatively, less than 2% of midwives have had or would recommend cesarean delivery on maternal request.

Summary: Cesarean delivery on maternal request (CDMR) may decrease neonatal iron stores at birth and hinder placental transfusion from mother to newborn. Neonates born via CDMR had significantly lower iron-related indicators at birth compared to those born through spontaneous vaginal delivery.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the willingness of OB/GYN doctors in Paris to perform cesarean deliveries on maternal request (CDMR) in 2020 and compare the viewpoints of OB/GYN seniors and residents on CDMR in six hypothetical clinical scenarios. The results showed that one out of four OB/GYN seniors interviewed was willing to perform a CDMR, and there was no significant difference in the viewpoints of OB/GYN seniors and residents on CDMR in different clinical scenarios.

Summary: Monoamniotic twin pregnancies are rare and have a higher incidence of complications and lower survival rate. Early anatomy screening is recommended to detect fetal anomalies. Causes of fetal death include fetal anomalies and twin-twin transfusion syndrome. After viability, closer fetal surveillance is advised to reduce the risk of in utero death. If uncomplicated, delivery should occur at 33 to 34 weeks' gestation.

Summary: The study found that as maternal age increased, the cesarean section rate of twin pregnancies also increased. Both nulliparous and multiparous women of older age were more likely to require cesarean section after a trial of labor.

Summary: The study aimed to determine factors associated with a successful twin trial of labor after Cesarean delivery. Results showed that twin TOLAC is less common and less successful compared to TOLAC with a singleton gestation, with higher risks of uterine rupture, maternal complications, and adverse perinatal outcomes. Identified demographic and obstetric risk factors can assist obstetricians in counseling patients undergoing twin TOLAC.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the factors associated with failed trial of labor after a cesarean section (TOLAC) in women with twin gestation. The study found that failed TOLAC was associated with assisted reproductive technology, lack of oxytocin use, lack of epidural analgesia, and preterm birth. Further analysis revealed that cervical dilation on admission, no use of oxytocin, gestational age at delivery, and lack of epidural analgesia were significantly associated with failed TOLAC.
