Summary: The study analyzed maternal health indicators in Brazil from 2012 to 2017, and found positive changes such as an increase in the number of prenatal consultations, the gestational age of onset of prenatal care, and the number of children being breastfed. These findings suggest an improvement in maternal health status during the study period.

Summary: This study explores the potential associations between drought and all-cause mortality in Nebraska from 1980 to 2014. The findings suggest a slightly negative association between all-cause mortality and drought in the total population, although the effect is not statistically significant. The study highlights that middle-aged white population in Nebraska shows a greater association with drought, and women aged 45-54 are more affected than men in non-metro counties. Moreover, longer-term droughts have higher rates of mortality compared to shorter-term droughts.

Summary: This study found that secondary holidays do not reduce mortality rates or acute hospital admissions, but there is a decrease in arranged admissions. When adding a new public holiday in New Zealand, it is best scheduled between June 10th and October 7th to minimize detrimental health effects.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of the 2010 Eyjafjallajokull volcanic eruption on medication use among residents in the exposed areas. The findings showed that the eruption did not lead to an increase in medication dispensing, but rather a decrease for some medication classes. It should be noted that the results need to be interpreted cautiously since the composition of each eruption is different.

Summary: The research showed that different statistical methods used in Interrupted Time Series studies could lead to significant variations in level and slope change point estimates, standard errors, confidence interval widths, and p-values. Statistical significance often differed across pairwise comparisons of methods, with disagreement ranging from 4 to 25%. Estimates of autocorrelation also varied depending on the method and length of the series.

Summary: This study used latent profile analysis (LPA) and survival data analysis techniques to assess the relationship between biological dysregulation and time to death. The results showed that women in the immunometabolic dysregulation group had more than three times the risk of death compared to women in the low dysregulation group. There was no statistically significant difference between the parasympathetic reactivity group and the low dysregulation group. For men, the risk of death did not differ significantly between the immunometabolic dysregulation group and the parasympathetic reactivity group compared to the low dysregulation group.

Summary: The incidence of AMI is projected to continue rising, with overweight/obesity emerging as the fastest-growing metabolic risk factor and the leading risk factor for AMI-related mortality. Individuals of Indian and Malay descent bear a disproportionate burden of overweight/obesity incidence and AMI-related mortality.

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the mortality monitor MoMo in Spain underestimated excess mortality in real time. This study applied polynomial regressions to correct this bias and found that the corrected estimates showed improved accuracy compared to the original estimates. The correction significantly improved the accuracy of initial mortality estimates and daily registered deaths.

Summary: The study utilized the natural experiment of Zambia's night travel ban in 2016 to evaluate its impact on RTCs and RTFs through interrupted time series analysis. The ban was found to significantly reduce both the level and trend of RTCs, as well as the number of RTFs, indicating that night travel bans may be an effective measure in reducing road traffic crashes and fatalities in LMICs like Zambia.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of providing additional dementia caregiver support services on caregiver burden. The findings suggest that strengthening caregiver services provision can reduce distress rates among caregivers. Expanding community services for caregivers may be a solution to the increasing burden of informal care for people with dementia.

Summary: Breast cancer shows high incidence and mortality rates, being a major public health concern. Analysis of the spatial distribution of late stage diagnosis and mortality for breast cancer revealed correlations with socioeconomic indicators and density of gynecologist doctors. Socioeconomic and health service-related disparities across Brazil are key determinants of the spatial pattern of breast cancer morbidity and mortality.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the years of potential productive life lost (YPPLL) and value the productivity lost due to premature deaths from cancer in Brazil between 2001 and 2015, as well as projected to 2030. The findings suggest that preventable cancers result in high lost productivity, and measures to reduce risk factors and improve screening programs could have a positive impact on the economy.
