Summary: This study examines the association between deprivation, health care accessibility, and health care system with the likelihood of receiving non-restorative rectal cancer surgery (NRRCS). The results suggest that operating volume and structure type have some influence on the probability of NRRCS, but clinical determinant plays a more important role.

Summary: This study evaluated the value of contrast-enhanced diagnostic CT scans characterized through radiomics as predictors of recurrence for patients with stage II and III colorectal cancer in two different French University Hospitals. The results showed improved predictive performance after harmonization using a statistical method. Combining clinical variables and radiomics shape descriptors could effectively predict disease-free survival.

Summary: This study compared splenic flexure colectomy, left hemicolectomy, and subtotal colectomy in patients with splenic flexure tumor regarding perioperative, histological, and survival outcomes. The results showed that splenic flexure colectomy is safe and oncologically adequate, but the debate is not completely closed.

Summary: Developing a radiomics model based on MRI and CE-CT using a neural network approach, this study aimed to predict pCR in LARC patients undergoing neoadjuvant treatment. By identifying the most predictive features and validating on datasets from two separate institutions, it was found that adding radiomic features improves the prediction accuracy for pCR.

Summary: In recent years, therapeutic management of locally advanced rectal cancer has undergone profound modifications, mainly with the introduction of total neoadjuvant therapy. Incorporating neoadjuvant chemotherapy into neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy improves locoregional disease-free survival. Organ preservation is now an option for patients who achieve complete response after neoadjuvant therapy, without compromising overall survival. However, the challenge remains in developing selection tools to enable personalized therapeutic approaches for each patient.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer is a deadly digestive cancer, and its incidence has been increasing in recent decades. A retrospective study analyzed data from 2117 patients in a digestive tumor registry and identified prognostic factors for survival, including age, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and metastasis location. The study provides valuable insights into the management and treatment options for pancreatic cancer.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the sensitivity of FIT in diagnosing colorectal cancer, investigate the impact of diagnostic circumstances on treatment and survival, and identify risk factors for interval cancer. The results showed that FIT had a sensitivity of 80.5% for colorectal cancer, and lowering the detection threshold could optimize sensitivity.

Summary: Deep learning has shown great performance in medical imaging analysis, but improving its interpretability remains a challenge. This study evaluates different importance estimators for explaining the classification of CT images of the lungs and finds that two versions of SmoothGrad perform the best in fidelity and ROC rankings, while both Integrated Gradients and SmoothGrad excel in DSC evaluation. Furthermore, it reveals a critical discrepancy between model-centric and human-centric evaluations.

Summary: This paper proposes a deep learning-based method for evaluating and predicting treatment response in patients with colorectal liver metastases using CT scans. The method achieves high accuracy in assessing treatment response and making early predictions, suggesting that deep learning has great potential in these areas.

Summary: This study presents strategies applied in New Caledonia to prevent and control the spread of highly resistant bacteria, including screening, cohorting, IT tools, and antibiotic prescription controls. The study concludes that it is possible to control the spread of AMR in a circumscribed territory through a comprehensive control strategy involving screening and other measures.
