It is necessary to study the braking process of the vehicles moving on a road with a series of signals. Due to the influence of traffic signals, the normally moving vehicle may suddenly decelerate when the signal turns red. In this paper, we present an improved optimal velocity model to describe the moving vehicles' behaviors on signalized road. Particularly, the applicability scope of our model is discussed. We apply simulation methods to evaluate our model. The results demonstrate that our model describes braking process more accurately. Moreover, it should be pointed out that the proposed model exhibits the feasibility in traffic flow simulation on signalized road (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
