Summary: This study aims to propose an implementation roadmap for HTA in Egypt based on the current healthcare system status. The survey and interviews conducted with healthcare sector decision-makers and experts suggest the need for capacity-building programs, establishment of HTA units, and the use of innovative tools such as MCDA. The study also recommends local burden of diseases and costing studies to facilitate HTA implementation.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and determinants of mobile health app (MHA) usage among inhabitants in Saudi Arabia. The prevalence of MHA usage was found to be 47.9%, with higher usage among younger, Saudi, highly educated, and working individuals, as well as those with chronic diseases. The main motives for using MHAs were to improve health status and lose weight, and the most commonly used apps were related to daily steps-counting and tracking ovulation period.

Summary: Early health technology assessment (eHTA) is used to evaluate and optimize the value proposition of a medical product and inform decision making in the early stages of development. This study reviewed and summarized existing eHTA frameworks, which provide systematic approaches for evidence generation and decision making.

Summary: The benefit assessment of tumor-agnostic therapies in Germany faces challenges such as the absence of direct comparative studies, difficulties in basket studies and indirect comparisons, challenges in determining appropriate comparative therapy, and system-related challenges. Possible solutions include increasing the use of real-world evidence, making conditional decisions in systematic reassessments, splitting the field of application, and finding (new) ways to design and analyze basket studies.

Summary: The majority of TMH providers offer individual therapy services to adults with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders, with approximately 82% supporting the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT TMH providers are more likely to use in-session and homework exercises, as well as collect more clinical information from their patients.

Summary: The study found that most patients try to incorporate cues into their daily routines to help them with consistent medication taking; many patients leverage some form of technology as a cue to support adherence to medication taking and diabetes self-management behaviors; patients value simplicity and integration of technology solutions used for diabetes care, managing medications, and communicating with health care providers; some patients express reluctance to rely on mobile technology for these diabetes care behaviors; and patients believe they prefer positively framed communication, but communication preferences are highly individualized.

Summary: Health technology assessment has traditionally relied on cost-effectiveness analysis, but the current approach lacks consideration for holistic aspects of health. This study reviews recent modeling attempts to expand the traditional approach by incorporating additional value elements, such as societal values and health equity. Augmented cost-effectiveness analysis appears to be the most promising method, as it allows for the integration of qualitative aspects of a product's value.

Summary: Public involvement in health technology assessment (HTA) is increasingly recognized as important for ensuring legitimacy and fairness in public funding decisions. However, challenges remain in reorienting HTA to reflect public priorities. Australia has historically led in applying HTA to assess new health technologies, but current processes lack meaningful public inputs.

Summary: This study evaluated factors influencing clinicians' perception regarding the use of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) for antibiotic management, finding that clinical experience, CDSS use, and care setting were important predictors. The research revealed that CDSS users were more confident and less likely to see it as a threat to professional autonomy compared to nonusers, while experienced clinicians were more likely to distrust CDSS due to fear of compromising their clinical judgement.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a pharmacist-led intervention using validated tools to reduce medicine-induced deterioration and adverse reactions. The results showed promising results, particularly in improved cognition. However, there was no significant difference in frailty, 24-hour movement behavior, grip strength, adverse events, and quality of life between the intervention and control groups.

Summary: Due to the increasing threat to public health and the economy, governments internationally are interested in models to estimate the future clinical and economic burden of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of interventions to prevent or control resistance and to inform resource-allocation decision making. The accuracy of models predicting the future economic burden of AMR depends on the accuracy of predicting future resistance rates. However, there is substantial uncertainty in predicting future resistance rates, which could mislead policy decision-making.

Summary: There is deep uncertainty about the clinical benefits and cost effectiveness of highly specialised technologies (HSTs). Standard health technology assessment processes have failed to address these uncertainties. A Living HTA framework is proposed to address these challenges by incorporating societal values, real-time data collection, and updating of reference models.

Summary: The study identified diagnostic uncertainty and limited access to prescribing information as significant barriers to appropriate antibiotic prescribing. Years of experience, healthcare settings, and clinician use of guidelines were important predictors of antibiotic prescribing behavior. Tailored interventions are needed to promote rational antibiotic prescribing practices in general practice and hospital settings.

Summary: The South Australian Medicines Evaluation Panel (SAMEP) was established in 2011 to make evidence-based recommendations on the funding of high-cost medicines in South Australian public hospitals. SAMEP has reviewed 29 applications, with 14 listed on the high-cost medicines formulary, and a retrospective review of the committee experience suggests that state-based HTA as operationalised by SAMEP is feasible and provides greater equity of access to high-cost medicines in the South Australian public hospital system.
