Summary: This study introduces a simple strategy to synthesize a non-crystalline porous 2D-flakes of Mg(II)-methyl 3,5-dinitro-salicylate complex with a large BET surface area of approximately 788 m^2g^-1 through microwave assisted hydro-complexation. The proposed structure was confirmed through structure visualization and density functional theory calculations, showing good thermal stability and hydrogen loading performance of the produced Mg-complex.

Summary: Cation-deficient copper chalcogenide nanocrystals have unique properties and have attracted great attention. However, the relationship between band structures and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in these nanocrystals has not been thoroughly studied. This study developed a facile method to synthesize alloyed copper chalcogenide nanocrystals with different crystal phases and explored their tunable band structures and LSPR properties.

Summary: New chalcogenide semiconductors Cu2NiSSe, Cu2NiSeTe, and Cu2NiTe2 with functional properties were synthesized by partial substitutions of Cu with Ni, S with Se, and Te. Morphology and microcomposition analyses were conducted using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), revealing that the compositions were obtained as polycrystals of high purity. The size of the crystallites in vacuum-synthesized samples was determined to be approximately 300 μm.

Summary: Double pervoskite BiHoZnCeO6 (BHZCO) is synthesized using the solid state reaction method and characterized by various techniques. The crystal structure of BHZCO is determined to be orthorhombic with space group Pca2(1), similar to Bi2WO6. The claim of BHZCO having cubic Fm-3m crystal structure in a previous paper is contradicted by the findings of this study.

Summary: In this study, a Fe3S4/biochar (FSBC) composite was prepared to enhance the reactivity, stability, and reusability of Fenton catalysis for the degradation of organic pollutants. The developed catalyst demonstrated good Fenton degradation efficiency towards various pollutants at room temperature. The addition of biochar to the Fe3S4 improved the activation of H2O2, leading to enhanced pollutant degradation. The FSBC composite showed high stability and could be easily recovered magnetically, making it suitable for large-scale applications.

Summary: To quickly generate and identify crystalline solids for organic compounds, a rapid and adaptable crystallization screening strategy is needed. This study describes a system that utilizes a standard platform small-scale crystallizer screening array, automated polarized light microscope, and PXRD analysis instrument to deliver reliable and consistent results. Data science technologies are used to streamline data visualization and processing. The developed workflow successfully identifies multiple polymorphs of a test compound using single-crystal and PXRD analyses in a single screening experiment on 200 mg of input material.

Summary: There is concern about the accumulation and degradation of plastic waste in soil and their impact on soil processes. The study used scanning electron microscopy and stable isotope analysis to investigate the degradation of different types of plastics in soil. The results showed that plastics underwent morphological changes in soil, and the attachment of biofilm and microorganisms was more favorable on certain types of plastics. Stable isotope analysis indicated significant degradation of PETE and HDPE, while L/LDPE was more resistant. These findings highlight the importance of further studies on plastic fate and processing in soil systems.

Summary: The study used scanning electron microscopy to observe the gross morphology and ultrastructure of the gills of Bagrus bayad, revealing features such as the orientation of the operculum and the arrangement of the gill arches. This species displayed adaptations related to its carnivorous feeding habits, with short gill rackers being a common feature. The gill structures were covered by cells with microridges, giving them a fingerprint-like appearance.

Summary: This study examines the effect of introducing Nb2O5 on the thermal, structural, and electrical properties of a quaternary system. The results show that Nb2O5 facilitates the transport of Na(+) ions, leading to non-monotonic trends in DC conductivity and activation energy. The conductivity mechanism is purely ionic, with V2O5 acting as a glass modifier and network-former. The enhancement in conductivity is driven by the formation of a mixed niobatephosphate glass network.
