Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the efficacy of microneedling as an adjuvant to topical therapies for the treatment of melasma. The results showed that microneedling as an adjuvant therapy improved melasma severity significantly, with better results compared to topical therapy alone. Microneedling was well tolerated with no serious adverse events reported.

Summary: Microneedling (MN) has been shown to be effective in treating atrophic acne scars, either as a monotherapy or in combination with other treatments; studies have demonstrated that MN has good tolerability and efficacy in scar treatment; further research is needed to validate the efficacy of MN with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up periods.

Summary: In this study, a meta-analysis was conducted to compare microneedling with other treatments for acne scarring. The results showed that microneedling without radiofrequency achieved superior scar improvement and did not cause postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, making it a favorable choice for acne scar treatment.

Summary: This study reviewed 35 monoterpenes with anticonvulsive activity, which have the potential therapeutic effect on epilepsy by reducing seizure activity through targeting key pharmacological targets and reducing neuronal inflammation and oxidative stress caused by seizures. Monoterpenes may represent a promising alternative treatment option, but further research is needed to determine their mechanism of action and safety assessment.

Summary: Hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that causes painful, inflammatory nodules, abscesses, and tunnels in the apocrine gland-bearing areas of the skin. Pain and drainage are the main symptoms that affect the quality of life in HS patients. Itch, which is often overlooked in quality of life studies, is also an important symptom and is associated with reduced quality of life, depression, and impairment of social life. Mast cells and mTor signaling are elevated in both lesional and perilesional skin. Brodalumab, a monoclonal antibody against IL-17A receptor, has shown significant improvements in itch, pain, quality of life, and depression in patients with moderate to severe HS. Statins have shown some reduction in itch intensity score. Further studies are needed to better understand the etiopathogenesis and optimal therapeutic modalities for itch in HS.

Summary: EMDR therapy shows positive effects in various pathological conditions beyond trauma and PTSD, including addictions, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders. It has also been successful in typically uncooperative cases, with potential implications for translational research. Additional methodologically rigorous studies are needed to further explore the advantages and limitations of EMDR therapy.

Summary: Dapsone gel shows promise in treating acne, with a success rate of 40.1-69.4% for monotherapy and a greater reduction in inflammatory lesions compared to noninflammatory lesions. Treatments combining dapsone gel with other acne medications were also studied, showing mild adverse effects and promising results.

Summary: Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is an important tool for overcoming infertility, and sperm selection plays a crucial role in the success of ART treatment. Advanced sperm selection methods have been developed to improve ART outcomes and sperm quality/functionality parameters. This systematic review examined the impact of advanced sperm selection methods compared to traditional methods in infertile couples and found that advanced methods led to improved ART outcomes and beneficial effects on sperm quality/functionality parameters.

Summary: Despite the identification of seven core outcome domains for acne treatment satisfaction, no robustly developed, designed, and validated PROM exists for inclusion in an Acne Core Outcome Set. Further research and development are needed in this area to address the gap in assessing treatment satisfaction for acne patients.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to summarize the evidence on the associations between diet and effectiveness of lung cancer treatment. A literature search was conducted, and ultimately, 20 papers were reviewed. The study found that antioxidants such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, and zinc can enhance the body's antioxidant capacity, protein intake can improve health, and omega-3 fatty acids from fish may regulate inflammation in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Increased energy and protein intake are strongly associated with improved quality of life in lung cancer patients. The use of a supportive diet should be standard in lung cancer treatment.
