Summary: The flavonoid corylin, isolated from Psoralea corylifolia, has been found to exhibit longevity properties in yeast, human cells, and mice. Traditional Chinese medicine has long been believed to increase lifespan, but identifying the specific molecules responsible for this effect has been challenging. Through screening traditional Chinese medicines and isolating compounds, researchers identified corylin as a key molecule in Psoralea corylifolia that extends lifespan in various organisms.

Summary: This study found that the extract of S. Sanghuang (SSE) has positive effects on nematode indicators. Different concentrations of SSE can prolong the lifespan of nematodes and increase it by 26.41%. SSE also reduces the accumulation of endogenous aging substances, increases antioxidant capacity and enhances physical fitness. RT-PCR analysis shows that SSE treatment upregulates the expression of a series of genes, prolonging the lifespan of nematodes. This study reveals the new role of S. Sanghuang in promoting longevity and inhibiting stress, providing a theoretical basis for its application in anti-aging treatments.

Summary: Our study found that Lycium barbarum glycopeptide (LbGp) extracted from traditional Chinese medicine can prolong the lifespan and health span of Caenorhabditis elegans and improve age-related diseases by activating transcription factors and mitochondrial function. This suggests that LbGp may be a viable candidate for the treatment and prevention of aging and age-related diseases.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the antiaging properties of Baicalein (BAI) on C. elegans and to elucidate the pathways or signaling molecules involved. The results showed that BAI could downregulate different Wnt ligands mRNA expressions in C. elegans, resulting in enhanced expression of GATA transcription factor ELT-3 and antiaging gene Klotho. BAI could enhance the worm's lifespan via ELT-3 and SKN-1 transcription factors, and protect worms against external oxidative stress through both ELT-3 and DAF-16 transcription factors.

Summary: Aging is a result of the dysregulation of multiple molecular pathways, with mTOR and AMPK signaling playing a role in cellular senescence. Poor nutritional balance is a driving factor in immunosenescence progression, and nutraceutical and pharmacological interventions can help maintain optimal biological response. Compounds like resveratrol, rapamycin, and metformin have shown positive effects in healthy aging.

Summary: Research shows that resveratrol, a plant polyphenol, extends the lifespan of silkworms, increases larval weight, improves thermotolerance, and enhances antioxidant activity. Additionally, resveratrol activates an antioxidant-related signaling pathway in silkworms. These findings suggest that silkworms are a promising animal model for evaluating lifespan-extending drugs.

Summary: Aging is a progressive physiological change in organisms, leading to alterations in normal biological functions and eventual cellular senescence. Nine hallmarks characterize this process, which are risk factors for diseases like cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. Research focuses on genetic pathways and biological processes related to these hallmarks to address therapeutic approaches aimed at slowing down aging.

Summary: Plant tissue culture technology provides a solution for meeting the commercial demand on economically important plants like rice, but the choice of gelling agents can significantly impact rice regeneration efficiency. The study showed that different gelling agents have varying effects on rice regeneration, with Gellan gum (Gelrite and Phytagel) performing superiorly in callus induction.

Summary: In this study, a rice codon-optimized maize G2 gene (rZmG2) was used to improve the regeneration efficiency of rice and maize calli for genetic transformation. The results showed that rZmG2 transgenic calli turned green in advance at the differentiation stage, significantly increasing the regeneration rates of transgenic rice and maize plants. Transcriptome sequencing and RT-qPCR analyses revealed that many rice genes related to chloroplast development and phytohormones were upregulated in rZmG2-transgenic calli.

Summary: Stilbenes, including resveratrol, are bioactive compounds in peanuts. This study investigates the production of these compounds from Arachis hypogaea using in vitro systems, specifically callus cultures and cell suspension cultures. Biotic elicitors from various fungi were found to enhance the production of stilbenes, indicating a potential method for production and a new opportunity for obtaining resveratrol and its derivatives.
