Summary: Patient-reported outcomes are crucial for evaluating medical and public health interventions, and standardized measures are needed. The multitude of HRQoL measures has hindered cumulative science, calling for linking different measures and reaching consensus on standard measurement. Promoting widespread adoption of common measures is necessary to accelerate future progress.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate generic, holistic assessments of HRQoL as predictors of mortality in general non-patient populations and clinical sub-populations with specified conditions or risk factors. The results showed that HRQoL was associated with mortality, but there is still insufficient research on individuals with mental health conditions.

Summary: This study aimed to assess whether baseline health-related quality of life (HRQoL) scores could predict the occurrence of radiotherapy-related toxicities. Data from 200 patients enrolled in a randomized study were analyzed. Multivariable analyses showed that a 10-point improvement in physical, role, and social functioning was associated with a lower hazard of major toxicity, while a 10-point increase in dyspnea and loss of appetite was associated with an increased hazard of major toxicity.

Summary: This study compared the validity of ISYQOL-PL and SRS-22 questionnaire scores in patients with scoliosis, showing a significantly better quality of life in mild scoliosis with ISYQOL-PL. The severity of scoliosis had a direct statistically significant impact on patients' quality of life when evaluated using ISYQOL-PL.

Summary: This study explores the cost of care for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using time-driven activity-based costing (TDABC) and connects it to patient health outcomes. The results show that significant costs are incurred when patients develop acute complications, compared to maintaining patients at low or moderate risk. Additionally, variance analysis highlights the importance of having the right personnel doing the right tasks at the right time to control costs. Therefore, optimizing resource utilization can contribute to better patient outcomes.

Summary: The objective of this study was to assess whether patients using medical cannabis report improvements in health-related quality of life over time. The study found that patients reported significant improvements in all 8 domains of the SF-36 questionnaire after initiating treatment with medical cannabis, and these improvements were mostly sustained over time. However, it is important to exercise caution in prescribing medical cannabis as adverse events were common.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is not statistically significantly associated with oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL), although it may lead to functional limitations, physical pain, and psychological discomfort. Dentists can play an important role in raising awareness about these issues and improving OHRQoL in individuals with diabetes.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of age and complexity on health-related quality of life and stress-related disorders in patients with diverticular disease. The results showed that adults had significantly lower physical and mental scores compared to the elderly and control groups at diagnosis, and the difference remained significant after 6 months. The complexity of diverticulitis and age were found to significantly impact health-related quality of life. Therefore, tailored management strategies and psychosocial support are needed for patients across different age groups and levels of diverticulitis complexity.

Summary: While most women in Yogyakarta have a good understanding of mammography, only a few undergo screening, mainly due to perceived lack of urgency and high cost. Additionally, healthcare professionals believe that breast cancer is not a priority for the government, leading to limited access and exclusion from national insurance coverage for mammography screening.

Summary: The study found that for adults with major unilateral upper limb absence, wearing comfort, grabbing and holding, and weight were considered the most important factors in prosthetic use. The development of the PUF-ULP outcome measure could help assess the preferred usage features of upper limb prostheses and facilitate the matching between users and their prostheses.

Summary: In cardiovascular care, PROMs are used to evaluate and monitor HRQoL in CVD patients. This study aims to develop a patient-centred preference-based PROM to meet individual health preferences. Through literature review, expert meetings, patient interviews, and an online survey, the nine most important items for CVD patients were identified and an electronic PROM was developed in a cloud-based environment.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the costs, quality of life, and user experiences associated with upper limb prosthesis use, and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of multi-grip compared to standard myoelectric hand prostheses. The findings showed that myoelectric prostheses, especially multi-grip hand prostheses, were more expensive than other types of prostheses, with no significant differences in quality of life and user experiences. Multi-grip hand prostheses were not cost-effective compared to standard myoelectric hand prostheses.

Summary: This study focused on reporting the health status of patients impacted by one or more health conditions using a patient-centered and preference-based electronic patient-reported outcome measure. The study found that multimorbidity was present in 62% of the patients, with the most prevalent health conditions being pain, fatigue/sleep problems, mental health problems, respiratory diseases, and diabetes. Additionally, the study compared health status across different health conditions and combinations of multimorbidity, providing valuable insights for clinical practice and policy-making.
