Summary: This study aimed to describe the genetic basis of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in a cohort with a high proportion of transplanted patients. The clinical prevalence of familial disease was found to be 37%, with most genetic variants located in sarcomeric genes. The yield of genetic testing was high, reaching 69% in familial cases, providing valuable prognostic information.

Summary: The study showed that four distinct cytoplasmic granulation patterns in human metaphase II oocytes were predictive of fertilization, pregnancy, and live birth outcomes in in vitro fertilization cycles, largely independent of age and other variables. These findings suggest that ooplasm granulation patterns should be considered in embryo selection for poor-prognosis patients undergoing IVF.

Summary: This study described the clinical, epidemiological, radiological, and analytical characteristics of patients with atrial fibrillation admitted for COVID-19 in Spain. The results showed that previous treatment with DOACs and DOACs treatment during admission seemed to have a protective role in reducing mortality rate, but further prospective studies are needed for verification.

Summary: This study analyzed the perceived care continuity across levels of care by chronic patients in public healthcare networks in six Latin American countries. The results showed that patients perceive significant discontinuities in the exchange of clinical information between primary care and secondary care doctors, as well as in access to secondary care following a referral. Relational continuity with primary care and secondary care doctors and information transfer are positively associated with care continuity.

Summary: This study investigates the presence of Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB) in COVID-19 patients and its impact on their clinical outcomes. The results show that SAB is more frequent in COVID-19 patients, with nosocomial bacteremia being more common. Respiratory sources serve as the main cause of SAB in these patients. The development of sepsis is more common in COVID-19 patients, especially in those receiving high-dose dexamethasone treatment.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Y-chromosome microdeletions in AZFa, AZFb, AZFc, and gr/gr regions in infertile Mexican patients. The results showed that 15.8% of infertile patients had Y-chromosome microdeletions, while no deletions were found in the control group. Additionally, the neural network model revealed a mild genotype-phenotype correlation between specific deletions and particular types of infertility.
