Summary: Insecticide applications in redgram crops are currently carried out manually or with tractor-drawn sprayers, both of which have limitations. This study explores the potential of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) spray technology for precise insecticide application. The experiment demonstrates that the downwash airflow generated by a six-rotor propeller in a UAV sprayer improves droplet deposition, density, and area coverage on different layers of plants.

Summary: The spray performance of an electric six-rotor UAV sprayer was evaluated in hilly and plain apple orchards. Factors such as tree shape, planting pattern, UAV payload, application volume, spray droplet size, and downwash airflow field were found to closely affect the spray performance. The study provides data support for optimal operational practices in UAV sprayer orchard operations and highlights the need for further improvement in underside spray performance.

Summary: Thrips are challenging pests in mango production due to their resistance to pesticides, hidden locations, and short developmental time. This study tested the use of tank-mix adjuvants Qi Gong (QG) and the thrips attractant Lv Dian (LD) in combination with a UAV sprayer for thrips control. The results showed that QG and LD reduced surface tension and contact angle, improving droplet spreading. The addition of QG increased deposition coverage by 31.5% and efficacy by 18.24% and 8.03% at florescence and the young fruit stage, respectively. LD increased efficacy by 24.56% and 14.38% at florescence and the young fruit stage, respectively. These findings provide a scientific basis for using UAVs to control mango thrips.

Summary: The study analyzed the exergoeconomic behavior of the TRS-18 turbojet engine for nine flight phases, revealing differences in cost-effectiveness among components and the impact of flight phases on exergoeconomic performance. The specific thrust cost was found to be highest during loiter III and IV phases, with the combustor having the lowest exergoeconomic factor and the gas turbine having a relatively high exergoeconomic factor. The findings can assist in identifying cost-effective flight phases and may be applicable to other gas turbine engines.

Summary: The study on plant protection UAV spraying in a peach orchard reveals a significant impact of flight velocity on droplet size and deposition efficiency. Increasing flight velocity helps pesticide droplets spread and penetrate the canopy, but also results in non-uniform deposition and reduced effective coverage ratio.

Summary: Traditionally, the design of experiments (DOE) methodology within the quality by-design (QbD) framework is used to optimize the crystallization process. In this study, various direct design approaches and an image-based direct design method called turbidity direct nucleation control (TDNC) were implemented to improve the particle length and filtration time of high-aspect-ratio particles. The TDNC method showed promising results and was further investigated for its robustness, usability, and scalability.

Summary: The study found that the PACT program could quantify and illustrate the application rate variation caused by overlap and turning movements that were not considered by traditional FMIS software. While field-average metrics did not show significant differences, significant variations were found when examining errors distributed among different application rate ranges.

Summary: This paper designs a multi-duct orchard sprayer to address the issue of low droplet coverage in walnut orchards in South Xinjiang, China. The sprayer's structure is simulated using computational fluid dynamics, and the operation parameters are optimized and validated through field tests. The results show that the designed sprayer can meet the design requirements and effectively enhance the spraying efficiency and droplet coverage in the new walnut orchards.
